Seriously hacked off about this:ragin::ragin:. Not so much the downtime, any system can go down and have errors, but the theft of my private information which I understood to be held safe and secure is extremely annoying.:ragin::ragin:
Never thought I'd say this but may just consider one of those x-box thingys. Can we ever trust Sony again with our data?:ragin::ragin:
Trouble is, can we trust Microsoft any more with the same data?:ragin::ragin:
A.:ragin:
And of course we can't log on to delete our credit card details, in no way should we have been left hanging for 5 days, i kept a close eye on my credit card online but others may not have been so fortunate
Mine seems fine so far but am keeping an eye on it. You can't trust any company more than Sony. They could be just as underhanded about keeping things quiet. Though on the XBOX you do pay for a service so they have the capital there to spend to get it fixed fast.
If anyone wants to jump ship to the xbox then I'm in. Would just need to get a copy of COD and I'm set. It does seem as though online play runs much much better on the xbox, at least from what I have seen. Even offline play is better.
Since i'm still in Africa i'll see how this develops over the next few days, but, if no reasonable resolution by the weekend then i'll be giving it serious consideration.
Do X-box's have an HDMI output? not that i need it, but, doesn't the x-box NOT have wi-fi? luckily for me my router is about 4 feet from my PS3 so i'd be on an ethernet cable anyway
Edit: Will my turtle beach headset work with the X-box?
New Xboxes have hdmi out (and have done since about the second Gen - Falcon model I believe?), the new ones have built in Wifi (you can also buy a usb wifi adapter if you got an older Elite with out it).
Pretty sure the turtle Beach will work with it without any problems, but i don't have one so can't confirm :p
In other news.. my old (5 years+) xboxox died last thurs  No RROD tho, the graphics chip has fried itself. So this started me looking for a new one - I was also weighing up the options for a PS3, but this recent kerfuffle with PSN has decided that one for me ;):hand::D.
..That and the fact a new 250Gb Xbox is only £150 in GAME just now...
Turtle Beach works with both, PS3 have a major problem but they will fix it, it's not out of the question that Xbox will not get the same problem but by that time PS3 will be fixed.
I'm sticking with PS3.
I have the new xbox 360. There's no lag I've ever encountered and I have played people all over the world on the AVP forum. The original 360 basic didn't come with HDMI but that was soon fixed. All current models come with it and most older models do to. As Burple said the new 360 models come with wi-fi built in and the older models can be ethernet or use one of 2 adaptors that the 360 has on offer. You can also use a bridging router and connect that to your 360, that's what I did until I got my new one. Much cheaper than the 360 official one.
John is right, there is no reason to think that the same thing couldn't happen on the 360. Though I bet Microsoft have better security in place and have more financial backing to get it fixed a lot faster.
I'm easy either way as like Stoney I have both consoles. Just need to know which to get the game for.
Providing Sony get this sorted soon, I'll be sticking with the PS3 too. Never giving them my card details again though. Will just use PSN Credits bought from Game or Gamestation etc.:computer:
Had a very quick look at X-Box's today in tesco's and it looks like I'd need to spend £250 ish for a decent model.:thud:

The 250Gb one is actually £149 in Game just now... Well i hope it still is, I'm off there at lunchtime! Tesco?? Pfff... :p;):D
*edit* Just got a new one at lunchtime, GAME is back up to £199  and Gamestation about £185 for a console plus one game... theivin' gits.. :hand:
So i went into Currys (of all places) and got a new slim 360 250Gb for £159 with Halo Reach. already ot the game.. so trade in here I come to get some cash back off it. happy enough with that :thumbs up:
Another week to go folks. :frown::frown::frown:

Can't see that working sadly, as the psn stores a fair amount of info relating to each game you play; rank, classes etc.
got a nice wee email telling me my bank account may be raped and pillaged and to be vigilant!
Shockin'
Ohhh. Didn't know you could even do that.
No question that a VPN could be set up then. Realistically, there's no difference in connecting two PC's (PSN'S) between two adjoining rooms and you connecting to Gismo in the USA. However, you'd both have to have a fixed IP, and I'd venture neither of you have. I certainly don't.

Ok. Just checked and it is possible. If it's still down on Sunday night I'll give it a go. Anyone up for trying it then?
Doesn't your IP stay with you for as long as you're connected? I mean as long as you didn't power down your router and restart it should be fine?
I found this while looking. Not had a chance to read it all but it's a starting place I guess.

I'll manage Sunday night :knife:
Hmmmm. OK, That may just work.:D Worth trying.
I can see our Router firewalls getting in the way. We may need to turn those off for the night - I wonder how many folk can actually remember how to get into the configuration settings on their router.
Deffo worth trying though. Will speak to MrsP and see if we have any plans for Sunday night. If not, I'll be on board. Grant, you wanna be host?
Gone into my router and I have my IP address. Will check it again on Sunday though, 'cos it may change if my PC restarts or power goes off to router etc.
Im game but have no idea what you are on about so I might be phoning for help
OK guys, looks like I'm buggered for tonight. My laptop is a Windows 7 Win64 version. n2n only seems to run on Win32 machines.:frown:
Have fun if it works. By the latest news it looks like PSN will be back up sometime this week.

just seen this dont have a cule how to do it but will give it a go
I also have a 64 bit PC, don't even know what's going on even if someone is trying to set it up
Never got enough time to try it but I have a mac so I'd have to use a different program anyway. Possibly better waiting until the PSN is back up. At least we can see if playstation plus will kill the lag that Gismo gets since we get a month free.
Had a wee look at Playstation Plus and it looks from first glance to just be a content upgrade, rather than a service upgrade.
Zimbo it's £40 per year and for that you get fully playable demmo's (limited time) and access to other game downloads and content. Nothing that interests me.
If anyone can find a reference to an improved online service, I'd be up for it.
