This has sprouted wings, vegetables and all sorts!
My first comment was just saying I thought the JCW Roadster will be a riot with the hood down, not that its better than any of the other models.
In honest truth if it was my money on the table the SD would still be my choice of car for me coming from a Cooper. It's bit more in the power department and looks ( inferiority complex I’ve always wanted two exhausts) gets silly miles to the gallon and cheap to tax.
If I was taken to Mini and said here pick a car for nothing everyone and there gran is going to get the JCW as it’s the top of the line, well most of the time!![]()
Mini as it was. As it is. As it always will be. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it's up to you to decide if it counts!
Well done Stewart for getting this thread back on topic!
Does the diesel have a DPF (Diesel Particle Filter) ? Only reason I ask is because I'm having problems with my Kia. It's down to the car only doing short journeys and the engine not heating up enough to burn off the particulates ....I'm now getting 29mpg with it due to the DPF being clogged.
Got the stuff to put in the tank to help but I've also got to get the car up to working temp then drive it at 3000rpm for about 50 miles to "rejuvenate" the DPF![]()
See that’s a worry with me and an SD over my Petrol Coop. Brimmed the tank today and I’m getting only 34 MPG as its silly short trips I’m doing and have been doing for the last few months. One week there I did six miles and I can’t remember when I was last at the pump, I think it was between Xmas and the new year.
Someone said if I did that with the D I’d kill it, I’m right in thinking until its running hot it’s a really dirty fuel?

When I was looking into a diesel A1 the dpf was a hot topic on the forum. If you do short journeys it gets clogged. Lots of people were reporting mpg of less than 45 or 50 when the official was 74!
Unless you are doing more than 15k per year, with the high purchase price of the cars and the fuel they will not save you any money.
