Ok Andy, To answer your question... I managed it, but you're right it didn't work for me 1st time. What you have to do is create a folder on the storage device called PS3 and it needs to be in capital letters. Within this folder create another folder called UPDATE again it must be in caps. Within this folder put your .pup file. Now try it and it should see the update on the storage device.
Oh to anyone who doesn't have a clue what I'm dribbling on about, You can download the PS3 update to a keyfob and then update from that. Take a couple of minutes rather than the usual 30 mins or so. Gives you a few extra minutes kill time![]()
Cheers Grant, I'll give that a try. I've already had to upgrade to the latest version anyway. At the moment if I try to get it to find an update from the flash pen it says "no update data found". If I try creating the folders and try it again I may get a different message... maybe: "Latest update data is already installed" or something like that. So I'll give that a try.
Cheers.

Cool. It worked for me last night with the sub folders but I tried it first with just the update and got the same message you did. when it works of the flash drive it doesn't say anything it just goes straight into the user agreement bit but it may not work if the update you have on the drive is the same as installed.
Andy, the amount of time you've spent talking about it you could have installed it normally by now![]()
