So once again the UK is dragging behind with launches of minis... :rolleyes: and evrywhere else gets them first!!
I must admit I do like the looks of this and I too cant wait to go have a really good look and even get a road test in one :thumbs up:, just a shame that the entry level basic Cooper version starts at over £18k :frown: :thud:
I don't think we normally drag behind, do we? Australia is launching the Coupe and Roadster at the same time so they are several months late. It makes sense to launch the Roadster here in the spring.Quote:

The more I see the Roadster, the more I like it... much as I've come round to the Coupe, I still can't really get my head around that mad roof, but the roof-down Roadster does it for me - plus if you get the JCW, you get to hear the pops and bangs. Won't be trading my R56 in for a LONG time though!
I just think because this is the new kid on the block and the Hatch even in JCW is common these days this will be the stand out mini for a while. I can only imagine the smiles per mile with the hood down in the JCW on a sunny day up north….
I’ve only seen one Coupe on the road going to Glasgow Airport and that was a few weeks back, I don’t think it’s gone down well at all. The younger brigade can’t afford them and the older lot just don’t fancy them. The yummy Mummy brigade can’t fit wee Emma’s friend in the back when they get picked up from school or in most case have or plan to have the usual two kids so there out the market. Grandparents are out as how do they take the grandkids out.
its a very niche market Both the Coupe and Roadster will be in, still the Roadster looks a riot and I want one!:smilewinkgrin:

Stewart - am I just a bampot, or does the above pic not show 'Lightning Blue'? Laser Blue is/was brighter isn't it? See wee pic below... I like Lightning Blue, as it's similar to the old Indi Blue of my previous MINIs. If I get another MINI (note the 'if'), it would probably some sort of JCW in Lightning Blue with Black roof and alloys - not unlike your pic - different wheels tho'. Still love my PW!!!!!!Quote:

With the roof folded the boot space is still massive, the unlined roof though is still a big NO NO :frown: it just doesn't feel right (looks wise)
but as a whole the car gets a :thumbs up: from me.

Going to pop in tomorrow on the passing and take a look.
Today I saw the Roadster at Peter Vardy. A lovely looking car, looks really quite sporty. Their's is an S with sports pack (aero kit and challenge wheels) in Eclipse Grey. Lovely tan lounge leather seats also .
The model they have (and maybe all dealers have at present) is pre-production without an electric top. The roof stows away really neatly and the boot is still pretty big.
The saleperson said it was not yet known if the visible bars on the roof were as it would be in full production cars. In other words, it might be that "proper" Roadsters get a lined roof.
The Grey looks spot on although I like the silver too...

Interesting the car I was in today had the button but the engine was off when I put down the roof or should I say fight with the roof. It popped open like in the clip with the twist no problem then I felt I was fighting all the way back. I did say to the girl this does not have the motorised hood and she just looked and apologised saying she did not know…
I wonder if it did now and I was fighting a motorised mechanism to get it down. Not to sound sexist but the girls would find it a bit much if you ask me although I expect it would free up with time and use. But When its a 90% Elec hood it looks like it will be fine.

Electric roofs are on March production cars only, dealers are awaiting their demo cars to arrive later this month with the semi automatic roofs.
Eastern have a JCW on order and should get it later this month.
Aaaaaa right Baz cheers for the info, I'd not get one without the power hood then. In the clip it looks great flipping the hood down on the move but its not so great when you have to turn and throw it back with a bit of effort!

Been bit of a shambolic launch all over, to be honest. Trying to find a Roadster with a manual stick in JCW/Cooper S to test drive is difficult.
Dealerships we have been to all have the same, if they do have one with a stick its a showroom only car :rolleyes:
Should improve once the actual demo cars are delivered and the Pre-production ones go.
Well the one at HF was ready to roll in a Manual in the Cooper S.
Considering this is there new model I actually walked past it thinking it was a Coupe as it was just parked on the Second hand lot. thought they would have it sitting Hood down only in the Showroom. When I said do you have a Roadster the girl gave another girl a call ( yes I know but HF now have this pointless matradee like system now with a girl standing at chest high wee work area) you can see the blooming person she calls sitting at a table at the end.
Girl offered a test drive, but I was just in on the passing and just wanted a look.
So they don't all come with the 'Powered' roof? Or am I missing something here :confused:
Wouldn't mind the wee handle and depressed :sad: button system, but not into having to flip the thing backwards manually - that's all a bit 'Old MG' rather than 'New MINI'. Is there a MINI £ Premium for a powered roof then? :hand: If so, like an asthmatic Hoover - it sucks slightly.
