The stock microphone is absolute rubbish, the stereo pin connector into on the mic or the actual controller itself just does not sit right hence the static and it keeps breaking down.
Hopefully the little AV cable i've ordered will allow my Turtle Beach headset to be connected.

But, am getting to grips with the buttons in the wrong place, so much so i might just change the PS3 over when it ever returns
