It's been years since I did it so don't really remember - I used to do a loop from Glen Doll over and round Loch Muick and back again, and I did a couple of loops from near the Balmoral Estate once but can't really remember that loop. Don't think it was over 40 miles though.
This was all about 15-20 years ago now, on my rigid frame Trek 8000 - wouldn't dream of it now (though I still have it).
I used the MTB a couple of times a week doing bout 15-16 miles off road and on road, A think it will get used more for taking my daughter out on the back of it now i've got the road bike.
I'm liking on road much better than off road, feel you need to work harder on road an you go further.
Will venture out a bit further once a get a bit fitter.

I'm really lucky in that our village is surrounded by quiet roads and lanes through Warwickshire, so I've got very little busy roads to ride on. The other massive benefit (for road cycling!) is that it's pretty flat round here. So within 3 minutes or so I can be cycling through fields and rolling countryside. I wouldn't have got a road bike before I lived up here though, it would have been suicidal in London!It's all the nutters in their cars zooming by you far to close that kinda put me off the road bike scene I must admit
The local cycling club start a circuit 2 mins from my front door every Thursday and they take up nearly the whole road when there all outI know a guy who cycles with them and he came a real cropper in the bunch when it all went a bit 'Pete Tong'

If anyone is up for it, Me and a mate are thinking about doing the dunfermline to leith cycle for charity, Think its round about 20 miles.
Its on the 20th june(sun at 12:30 from d/line). Its advertised on the radio often.

I go to the gym twice a week and on a friday I came home, get out the minkey suit and into the lycra *whooot whoooo* and take on a 16k local run on specialised rock hopper.
Love it, I have a route that knocks your pan in and burns hunners of calories, in prep for the MHFS10k in bellahouston next month......no bad for a fat bloke!
