    Hi all

After 3 years of a low battery warning my 12v battery has finally died on my Roadster.

Can anyone recommend a replacement, looked online and not sure exactly what is best to get. Needs to be suitable for Stop / Start.

Also are they relatively easy to fit and will it need coding and can this be done with a OBD scanner

    Thanks.

    Neil.

For stop / start technology, it will need to be an AGM type battery and NOT a standard lead acid version. Most important spec is the physical size, it has to fit in the battery tray and be properly secured - MoT failure if not properly secured. Next you need the correct level of Ah (Ampere Hours), so look at the sticker on the current battery and ensure you get one with at least that power capacity.

Usually can be fitted by a reasonable home mechanic, although Halford's or other auto electrician will fit for a small fee. Also, typically needs to be told it has a new battery to reset the alternator's charging rate, although after a few drives it learns by itself.

As above Neil, but will need coded. Unsure if Carly or BimmerCode can do this

Hi, to add though cannot confirm, Bimmercode has the AGM facility where you can change the battery spec (amps I think) so should work, it did say so in the info that came with it.

    Hi Neil,

I have looked into this now and I am almost certain you need Bimmercode & Bimmerlink as you need to register the battery to the car after ensuring Ah settings, videos are on on Youtube

Thanks. I thought the same so just got out AA to change which also meant I didn’t have to get it jumped.
