Wish I had a picture of my childhood 'Timex' with its plastic strap.... now THAT was a PROPER watch - when you were about seven. Did it for me! Of course when I was seven they were still using Sundials. I still have it somewhere, so if the Antiques Roadshow comes to town, I'm sorted.

I don't even wear a watch every day, as everywhere I am usually has a clock in view. I have a Citizen 'Eco-Drive', which just tells me the time and the date. Simple but effective, probably the watch equivalent of a Ford Fiesta, and another one which is a strange 'surfing-themed' (ocean, not internet) velcro-fastened 'Gul-logo-d' thing, which is the watch equivalent of a VW Camper Van. I do like the look of some watches - it's the visual impact combined with the very clever 'technology in miniature' thing I think. Still, I have to say some of the prices are just plain daft, although I do understand the investment value/heirloom aspects. I'd still rather spend the dosh on Music, Gigs and MINI bits - sometimes the best times are when you forget the time!

You can pick one up at the Tag outlet in Cheshire Oaks shopping village for £1400, that's if they still have it - this was back in March. Was sorely tempted and Lenore told me to just go and get it, but I'm too mean.

No actually not at all she said we'll see, thats as good as yes. I mean £1400 on a birthday present is excessive but not for a big one

Mmmmmmmmmmm ....................... I like watches , always have

Currently wearing a Tag Heuer Aquaracer Automatic (silver dial). Had waited years (like Del Bhoy) to get one so when I left my job (voluntary redundancy) in the whisky industry in Jan 2007 I took my chance. Bonus points were also on offer as one of my mates, mates worked in the watch, sales, jewels type thing & I managed to get a friends & family discount of ......................... 35% , so my £1495 watch cost me £971.75 , .................... chi, ching

Wear it every day & never take it off, even swimming or shower

Would post up a pic ..................... but I canny be @rsed
