The name change from “One Diesel” to “Cooper Diesel” alone should give you a hint at how MINI intends this new car to up the diesel performance ante. The newly redesigned Car Magazine has the latest on what to expect:

Makes a lot of sense. Hot Hatches are going down the diesel route more often now.

Look at the Skoda Fabia RS for example, it's a diesel and meant to be a cracking car!

the more I hear the more I like it And if it's only £500 more than the petrol Cooper then it's a bargain too!
I quite like the idea of a diesel Cooper Traveller as well

I've never quite got why manufacturers charge so much more for diesels.

Surely it costs less to manufacture a tractor engine than a sweet, high-revving, variable valve timing petrol engine

Trouble is the MINI will still be outgunned by the VRS Fabia as that has 130bhp
