Good stuff for swirls

I got me some Blackfire compound and put it to use on the car. It says it will take out some heavy wet sand marks from tough clear coats. As the BMW and the MINI are a pig to get swirls out of, i thought id try it.

It worked really well, and looked really shiney, even before i put polish anywhere near it. I then followed it up with some Megs #80 speed glaze, then some blackfire extra gloss polish. Sealed with Klasse extra gloss protection and then waxed with NXT.

Allan, I'm thinking of ordering a Porter Cable from Autopia. What products/compounds would you recommend to use with it? The majority of it's use will be on my (brand new) car but it will be used sometimes on older cars.

I had a good link thats at my comp at home from where i bought mine. Came in a megs bundle with some polish etc. Some good compounds are the SSR (super Swirl Remover) range. Say SSR2.5, because bmw paint is as hard as nails. Also another one i have that is good is Blackfire compound. You can get this from www.polishedbliss.co.uk.

I would give the car one good polish with a good polish, say blackfire extra gloss polish or Klasse, which is good. Use a sealent Klasse Extra gloss sealent (www.seriousperformance.co.uk) is great also. Then use a quality wax to protect and bead water.

Then buy a glaze. #82 Speed glaze from meguiars is good. or #7 show car glaze (but this is water soluble and onyl good for the summer im afraid). Using a glaze is a good way to get a shine but without polishing down the clear coat of the car. Klasse polish has no abraisives so is good for this.


Ill review this tonight and let you know my final verdict ... when i havent got my boss looking over my shoulder to see if im skiving.

Ed - when I bought my PC I got this kit from Autopia - delivered in about 3 days too! The sonus pads and paint cleanser are excellent too and if you register with Autopia, every now and then they email you a 15% discount code which will help too :) You also need a 750KVa transformer, male plug and 15m 110V extension cable too so expect to have shelled out circa £200 by the time you have all the gubbins.

Allan - just bought myself some SSR2.5 this week to get rid of the more stubborn scratches on my car - fingers crossed it works as well as it sounds.

I know, I'm wondering if I'd be better to wait until it's polishing season again rather than have it sitting dorment for the winter!

Keep your eyes peeled in the uk Megs forum too - sold my PC there no probs - it was too much hassle as i didn't have a driveway! :(
