Front Spring Problem

Looking for some advice about an F54 Cooper S Clubman, early 2017 build, 21,000 miles covered.

Three weeks ago I drove my car home with no problems and it hasn’t moved again until last night. Metatarsitis of the foot, very painful

When driving, there was a rubbing/ grinding noise coming from the front near side wheel which I thought may be the brake binding slightly due to not being driven and the heavy rain. Had a look this morning and found that the front spring is resting on the tyre. (See pic).

    So, a couple of questions:

Does anyone have any idea how much this will cost to fix? I assume I may need to have both front springs replaced?

How can I get it to a garage as it looks pretty undriveable. I do have RAC At Home, Roadside, Recovery and Onward Travel. Would they do it?

I live in Prestwick, so where to get the work done? The car has a MINI FSH. Are MINI likely to help due to this being my fourth MINI and the low mileage?

    Any help or advice appreciated.

I’d imagine that your RAC cover would allow you to be taken to a garage of your choice but you’d really need to check with them, but by what you’ve described I’d hazard a guess and say that they would. I’d imagine MINI wouldn’t help as there is multiple reasons as to why there is suspension issues. You could obviously try an independent garage, we’ve used B&M Centre, located in Yoker with always great results, they are also forum sponsors offering 10%off their hourly rate for NMS members

RAC would likely recover you to a garage, although as your at home I think you'd be down the priority list for them.

You could certainly take it to MINI to have it repaired although it'll come with main dealer prices, so I'd take it to a good local independent. It looks like part of your shock might've broken off as well, so it could get pricey.

    Thanks for the quick responses.

B&M Centre would have been ideal but we only have the one car and Yoker is a fair trek from Prestwick.

There is a BMW/MINI specialist in Ayr http://www.ayrshirebmwspecialists.co.uk/. but I’ve no idea if they are any good.

I’ll hold off speaking to the RAC until after the weekend as I’m still on sick leave until Monday.

Maybe someone will have a recommendation closer to home.

Based on the recommendations here, I spoke to Nathan at B&M Centre this morning.

They can’t start the work until next Friday which gives me plenty of time to organise the RAC into taking the car to Yoker.

This is the most work I’ve ever needed to be done so I thought going with recommendations was best.

    Thanks for your help

Got the car back yesterday. It was actually ready a day before they said they would work on it but I couldn’t pick it up until yesterday.

The front spring was replaced and I’m very happy with the work and the price.

    Great recommendation from you guys
