Just a note of caution. Sunday Apr.24.22 is what is known as Drive It Day - look it up on the web. Consequently, there will be lots of cars, modern and classics out and about on the roads that day. As an additional consequence, the police are also very aware of the fact that it is Drive It Day and will have extra patrols out and about looking for cars and drivers who are not complying with the rules! One of those little known rules are 'convoys' - no more than 10 cars unless there is a touring assembly permit exemption provided from the MSA.
Will not be able to join you at NMS outing as will be participating in a Jaguar Drive It Weekend in the Peak District, which I am organising. Currently have 50 cars lined up and 82 people for Sunday Lunch!

Never heard of this before. Sounds like some iffy/archaic thing that has rarely/never been enforced.

Thanks Liz, I’ve never seen or heard anything about Drive it Day or the convoy rule? Is Drive it something new?

Drive It Day was created in 2005 by the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs and is to celebrate the fact that folks in 1900 set out to give us the motor car that we all enjoy today. You can see more on the FBHVC by clicking on the link here. https://www.fbhvc.co.uk/drive-it-day
The Drive It Day in 2022 is set to raise funds for the charity NSPCC Childline Service - definitely a worthy cause.
There is usually a large number of events organised by car clubs around the UK to celebrate Drive It Day, so it may be that NMS can tag on to one or more of those. If you were in the Northeast of the country for instance, there is a Drive It Day outing starting on the Aberdeen Beach Boulevard, organised by the Garioch Vehicle Restoration Society - all welcome.
