So having taken the cover off and stumped up 6 months VED we have a small problem with the convertible roof....

It fully opens, the motors stop whirring and you release the open button, and the red light flashes. After cycling full closing and opening a few times I noticed that the drivers side 'bar' wasn't fully locating in the actuator operated catch near the door.

2 workarounds currently; gently press on the end whilst out the car and press the open roof button again and it drops into place; or simply press the close roof button to lift it an inch and re-press the open button to have it drop into place and the light to not flash. Workaround is fine, but it didn't use to do this. Any ideas? Lubricate all the hinges? Would WD40 be OK or something thicker? Wouldn't want to jam it with grease!

It all locates fine in the windscreen when closing (and in unison) so I don't think the mechanism is fundamentally wonky per se.

All the google searching throws up the parcel shelf micro switch or not opening at all. This is something different. Looking forward to any words of wisdom!

    Thanks,

    Niall

Sounds like it just needs to be lubricated. I’d go with a little be grease first

Sounds like a little lubricant will help ,try some WD40 or similar first ,hold a cloth under the area you are spraying to stop any mess and see if that works ,if it does put a little grease(spray) and that should last longer than WD40
The cars in front are New MINI Scotland

Yep. Applied a small dab of bike chain oil to all the hinge/scissor points and cycled the roof a few times. Didn't initially fix the bar location issue but magically over a few weeks we didn't need to manually press the bar home anymore.

    So quite happy!
