I know, it was yesterday, but I thought I'd mention it, since it's the new kid on the block, at our new venue, TECA. And since I think
it would be a great show for NMS to have a stand at.

I was there with Aberdeen Minis, but we got let down by a few no-shows, so had 3 classics, an F56 JCW and me in the Clubby.

Yesterday saw something like 800 cars, using part of an exhibition hall, and the underground car park, with 8000 visitors.

Was a good day, only spoiled slightly by a few cars bouncing off the rev limiters, despite one of the show rules stating no engines
running during the day. And before you say I'm a grumpy old git, which I am, the noise being mostly underground wasn't good,
especially for the small children. Rules are rules!

This is/was one of the main problems with SCS the last few years - did anybody try and stop them did you notice?

I can imagine a car popping and banging in an enclosed space like that would be really annoying.

The organisers did after a while, but I'm not sure how much bodies they had downstairs. The Police had a display just beside us, I thought they might have given it the
old 'ello, ello, ello…..' but no, in a private event it's not up to them.

The event looked good from pictures I seen on social media, I went to the Scottish Performance Show earlier this year and it was the same pop bang, pop bang, goodness knows how people in houses never complained.

I’m always happy for NMS to attend/try new things.

These shows however do seem to attract those that want to bounce the car off the Rev limiter, which doesn’t make for an enjoyable experience for most people. As Andrew has said this is why we as a club decided not to do SCS again and the rather herbal smell in the air.

If it's a decent show then I'd certainly be up for attending it.

I'll echo what others have said though in terms of anti-social behaviour - it just ruins the day for others.

I don't see why we couldn't put it in the calendar for next year though and give it a try.

To be fair it's a new show and will have teething problems, hopefully the pop and banging will stop would not mind going up next year for a look, but it should be the case if you start popping and banging or even having engine on before leaving time, you get a warning and if it happens then asked to leave. I never understand why at these family events people do that!

From what I heard the last hour was a bit noisy!

Completely agree Davey. I think the biggest problem though is not the lack of policy but rather the lack of enforcement. I suspect they'd only need to clamp down on it for one year/show season for people to get the message.

And herein lies the rub. Laura and I are filled with joy at being able to bring our little one with us to different car events but we certainly wouldn't want her in the environment that was last years SCS.

The IAA in Frankfurt was a perfect demonstration of what a car show could be. Now to be fair, it was a professional event for manufacturers however it was filled with people and (more importantly) vendors selling alcohol and yet there wasn't a single instance of anti-social behaviour. Obviously I'm not including the pre-organised protests that took place outside the show.

It's a shame when you come from a show like that and have seen how good things can be - even with alcohol involved. It's something that I really think we need to improve as a car-community.

What was the rest of the show like, excluding the muppets redlining their cars? I'm on holiday for a few days so couldn't make it, but all the pre-show marketing stuff made it look a bit too Fast and Furious for me. I could be wrong of course, just got that impression

Feet were made to fit car pedals. If we were meant to walk, we'd have pogo sticks for legs

I'll start by saying we've been a bit spoilt up here in the past with Speedfest.

I'm not entirely sure how they split the two spaces, upstairs there were some club stands, trade stands, super cars, but there were just as many of them downstairs. Maybe that was down to who you knew on the organizing team?

The revving of engines happened for maybe 10-15 mins early afternoon, then lots of engines started up around 5, at that point we took refuge in the Clubby, but you could feel the vibrations coming up through the floor. Downside of that was any announcement over the tannoy regarding order of leaving couldn't be heard. Apparently there were some awards dished out, but again couldn't be heard. I'm sure they'll get on top of this for next year.

If you're a car enthusiast, there were plenty nice cars to see. I'm at the age where even if I don't like a marque, I can still appreciate the work (or not) that's gone into it. For the record, my favourite was a mk2 Golf with Kamei kit, and Callums was a Toyota Supra.

We were parked opposite a Seat club with maybe around 20 cars on their stand, and the fun they were having as a group looked like a NMS crowd. They kept Callum and me entertained at the end with their choons.

That would be the common sense approach, but they were very strict on a no cars moving policy until after 5, when it was closed to the public. The doors were closed on the car park from 09:00 to 17:15.

I'd opt for confiscating keys, and keeping them back until every last car had left.
