    What would you recommend as the best method to de-chrome some exterior trim?

    I’m looking to de-chrome the outer grille, headlight rings and tail lights on a F54 Clubman.

    The options I’m aware of are;

    1. Plastic trim covers
    2. Wrap
    3. Paint

    For those who have painted or wrapped the trim how has it held up over time?

    The plastic covers seem expensive for what they are and I’m guessing will be noticeable when looking up close? Although they may be the only option for the rear lights.

    Thanks in advance

    I’d always got for replacement black rings above anything else if available.
    The OEM MINI ones are expensive but they do look awesome.
    Painted rings would be a huge hassle due to having to prepare the surface properly prior to painting.
    Wrapping is a very viable option though. I had the light rings on GP1499 wrapped matte black about 6.5 years ago and after over 30K miles in all weathers they do still as good as the day they were done.

    I think you’re right about painting and I’m not sure it would last on the front end of the car.

    I don’t think I’d bother with the hassle of trying to wrap the trim myself and would probably take the car somewhere to have it done properly.

    I had mine wrapped by Tint Studio in Sheffield.
    It honestly took them only 10 minutes.

    Do any of you know if the grille surround is the same on the F54 as the F56?

    It may be a case of leaving the rear lights for now.
