Having now received my new Mini, where is the best place to purchase a reasonable set of floor mats?

It all depends what your tastes are.
They are loads of various custom mats available from various places.
I personally now use OEM MINI all weather mats due to me using my R59 JCW on a daily basis.
If you want OEM mats don’t forget that Harry Fairbairn are an NMS sponsor who kindly give us a club discount.

OEM makes for me too ... I’ve only ever had one set made and for the price it’s not really worth it unless you want for them shows ...

You only need two tools in life WD40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should use WD40 and if it moves and shouldn't use Duct Tape.
