Hi, I wonder if anyone out there can give me the benefit of their knowledge?

My 03 plate MCS has an Air con problem, it only blows warm air, which I believe is a common fault but I am looking for adviced on what the fault could be.

The LED on the A/C button lights up when switched on but the compressor doesnt spin so I take it the clutch isnt getting energised.

I have removed the Relay & checked the resistance across the clutch coil, which is approx 4 ohms & I have bridged out the relay from pin 30 to pin 87 & the compressor clutch engaged & was spinning away happily but no cold air!

I dont have any way of checking the gas level but can anyone tell me does a low level of gas stop the system working? Or is there anything else I should be checking?

Thanks in advance for any help/advice

I’m no good on the tech side of MINI’s but it could well be that it just needs re-gassing.
I had the same issue on an Avensis SRi a good few years ago and it worked perfectly after being re-gassed.

Off the top of my head Kwikfit give you a refund if a regas doesn't fix it - or something like that. Worth checking anyway

Feet were made to fit car pedals. If we were meant to walk, we'd have pogo sticks for legs
