Hi again. I have the common R53 oil leak problem from more than one place. I intend changing the cam position sensor o ring as a first step to reducing the mess under my engine.
Is it possible to fit a new o ring without putting the car in front end service mode?
If I have to put it in FESM how hard/time consuming is that?

    Many thanks
    Colin

It sits at the front of the engine. There are you tube videos which include replacing the o ring but they all show the car in front end service mode. One commentator says it can be done without putting the car into fesm albeit tight for space. Just wondered if anyone has done that and how realistic it is.

is the cam sensor leaking ?
you need strip front end off if it is,,its behind plastic supercharger black pipework
not really tricky if your handy with tools
a couple of hours as long as you dont touch anything else,,,but if your string it down your as well doing what you can when its all nude

Thanks Scooty. I have oil leaking from somewhere possibly more than 1 place! I am aware the camshaft sensor o ring is a common leak point so I picked up an o ring with intention of changing it.
Stripping down the front end doesn't look hard just a bit of a pain to get to 1 small part. Hence if it is possible to get to the sensor without going to all that work I would have tried to do that but from what you say it looks like I need to take the front off the car.
Just need to put aside some time to do it!
