So the below was the start of my interest in MINI’s.
I waited for the announcement of the Cooper S, fully specced one to the max, I can not remember the full price though, but pulled out at the last second and bought a 4 bed detached instead.
I never got around to actually buying one until I got 1499 in April ‘12.
Just look at the pricing !!!

I've still got all that, and can remember the prices - £14,600 for a Cooper S, and I paid £23,612.51 for mine.

I also remember the waiting lists - I ordered mine at the end of July 2004, which was the last build slot allocated to that dealer for the year, and it was December before they built it.

I don't think they were cheap - I look at the prices of the new ones and think they're very expensive!

Anyone still got the small bottle of champagne they used to give you? Think I drunk one and kept one

Yep I remember all that too!! I got one of the very first batch of S’s, it was a bit of a wait I can tell you! Mine had all the extras and cost me £19,500, can’t remember what deposit I put down though!

I've just remembered, there was also a Mini angel for the top of your Xmas tree in gold colour. When was the last time you seen a gold R50? Pretty rare, same as the silk green.

They really had the marketing down to a fine art in the early days

Ordered my R53 S in May 2002 and picked it up in September 2002. Just over £17k. Kept it until last November when I sold it with all of marketing stuff that I collected over the years. Only thing I have left is this 3cm promo model that was sent out in 1999.
