Hi. I know the GP1 uses r56 cooper s suspension and brakes. Is it possible to put r56 s struts and springs into an non gp r53 by just swapping the top mounts or was the gp designed to take the newer struts. Thanks.

It depends you can fit R53 coils with some washers to an R56 but dont think you can go the other way tbh

The GP1 has diffrent rear set up same as tbe r56 you can retro fit the full set up to an R53 tho 👍 ie rear control arm ect

Was just an idea because i have a full set of standard S suspension potentially considering an r53 but i dont know if i could afford the running costs. Struggling to find one that catches my eye want one with full leather seats but all the ones ive seen on autotrader the seats are totally desytroyed

The GP has JCW suspension - not the same as R56S suspension AFAIK. The brakes are the same

Feet were made to fit car pedals. If we were meant to walk, we'd have pogo sticks for legs

I wouldn't let seats put you off, full leathers come up fairly regularly on eBay.

Aye, I know but I was meaning more the specs of the springs/dampers - the stock R53/R56 suspensions are very similar
