Would my R56 timing chain be covered under warranty?

    I've had it for a while now and the timing chain rattle is starting to get a bit excessive.

    I don't know if Mini ever accepted this as a full on recall job, however when I had my R56 S I had it replaced under warranty. I think I'd had the car about 2.5 years so it was definitely out of the cherished warranty as well as the manufacture warranty. Best thing to do, phone up Mini and see what they say. No harm in asking I guess.

    As Neil says worth a call to MINI,if you go to your local dealer and don't get a satisfactory answer ,phone customer services ...can't hurt

    Otherwise try just replacing the tensioner, genuine costs about £10 because Mini are clearly subsidising it now its a known issue- about 20mins to fit it!
