Looking to upgrade the discs and pads on the R53 with MTec discs and Mintex pads. Does anyone have any experience with them or have any alternatives?

I would buy std front discs and a decent set of pads like mintex m1144 or m1155 or perhaps some project mu cx800
All the Celtic cup cars run std discs with uprated pads I have now done this as well and the brakes are very impressive
I am also upgrading the hoses to braided and the fluid to 5.1 racing
    Hope this helps

I bought the drilled and grooved Black Edition and have now had them for o'er 4 years and I still love them.
I've done about 25K since having them fitted and the surface of the disks have only worn down by about 1mm !!!
The original bog standard Mintex pads were swapped for EBC Yellow Stuff just before the HBT II earlier this year but there was still loads of life left in 'em.
After 2 years I also had Hel braided lines fitted and they improved the M-Tecs immensely.
The only words of advice that I would give to you about the drilled and grooved version is, be careful in the wet, they grip like hell.
I always use Castrol React Super Dot 4 fluid as well.

I only ever went with stock discs, but liked EBC yellow pads. HEL lines go without saying, and I've always used ATE super blue fluid.

I still think R56S callipers and discs are the best upgrade for the R53

Feet were made to fit car pedals. If we were meant to walk, we'd have pogo sticks for legs

I wouldn't put drilled on, heard to many stories of them cracking around the holes.

But if your hearts set on them there's a guy selling what looks like MTecs with pads and calipers for £70 on eBay.
