Hi guys I've only had my cooper s clubman a few weeks but recently I've noticed a strong smell of petrol in the cabin whilst the car is stationary. A google search keeps coming back to a faulty fuel pump however the pump was replaced by a mini specialist in November of last year. Is it possibly the pump again? The car feels slightly hesitant around 2-3k revs which I thought was likely to be it needing a carbon clean but I'm now having my doubts.
If anyone has any info it's greatly appreciated
How old is the Clubby ?
If it was replaced by a MINI specialist I'd have it back to them with it being in such a short space of time. Why did they change the fuel pump for a fuel smell. I would say that if you get a smell in the car when stationary its likely to be an injector or fuel rail issue. Maybe a leaking injector ?
Might be well off the mark but that's where I'd start ...

You only need two tools in life WD40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should use WD40 and if it moves and shouldn't use Duct Tape.
It's a 57 plate. I've had a look under the bonnet but can't see any obvious signs of fuel leaking. Going to give them a ring on Monday and see what they say. Not sure where I stand with it as it was the previous owner who had the pump fitted
The earlier Cooper S cars of late 2006 early 2007 were all held up at the factory due to faulty fuel pumps. Even when cars got to dealers some were still faulty as MarkyC nearly blacked out in his car with the fumes. They changed the pump to a better quality one and his was fine after that. If yours has indeed been changed then it might not be that but I'd start there as your symptoms are identical to his.
Going to phone the place that fitted the pump and see what they reckon the issue could be. Really can't see a pump going bad in 6 months but you never know. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.

Doing a bit poking about today, we discovered the intake pipe from the air box to the turbo was sliding off. Could this cause the petrol smell in the car? Have cleaned the pipe and reconnected so I guess time will tell lol
Well the intake pipe wasn't the issue as even after I'd cleaned and replaced it the smell was still apparent. Had the car into east coast garage in whitecraig today who quickly diagnosed a leaking rocker cover gasket as the likely source of the smell so will have that replaced ASAP.
