Looks like you guys had a great time. I managed to run out the house in time to wave to the last 3 or 4 cars. Didn't realise you were going past my place

Great run William, was good to get back on a run. Was fun on the slippy roads with my 15's

Good to catch up with all the usual folks, and say hi to some new ones.

Well, that, as Wallace and Gromit would say, was "A Grand Day Out".
Seems like (because it is) ages since I had a 'proper' run in the MINI - and it was great to 'get it together in the country, maaaan' with you fab people. I had almost forgotten how much FUN my car can be.

Point to ponder: Talking with Ali at the lunch stop, we were mulling over various things, what mods could I do next etc etc, and he said something quite profound (strange, he's from Motherwell...) - basically that the LESS you drive your car, the MORE you want to mod it, but when you DO drive it, you realise that it's pretty damn fine as it is. While I haven't been driving it, I've been reading tons of stuff on how I can make it 'better', but when I drove it today I said to myself "What were you thinking?". A couple of weeks back William actually said the same sort of thing when I was talking to him about induction kits. So whats's the moral of the story? If you want to enjoy your MINI, by all means, give it a few mods, but instead of constantly thinking about 'the next thing', just get out, find a good road with some choice mates, and DRIVE THE BLOODY THING!

Thank you William and the Harper Clan
, and thanks Ali for the wise words. Oh, before I forget, could I just say that it would be a nice touch (William's probably thought of this anyway) to send a wee message of thanks to the folks at the Scottish Mining Museum for being such good hosts - for the great food and service and the photo opportunity.

Cheers folks, see y'all on the next run
ps Ta to Stoney & Christine for being my SatNav there and back again!
