i had to stick my mini cooper 1.6 d in to have some warenty work done in return i got a clubman d for a few days its also a 1.6 d why is it so much faster?
my car is a 57 plate it is a 61 plate but the difrenct is amazeing i think the main difrence im noticeing that i will fix by binning my run flats is the handleing.
It is so much quicker off the mark and keener to get on boost compaird to my mini. i will never have any thing but a diesel so much torque from that little motor.

i would also love to find out if any one could tell me how do i get the overboost to work on my car? i have been told that it does have it by the garage when i bought it but not sure how it works.

I would like an SD next, a bit more power but cheaper to tax and better MPG etc. There seems to be a difference with the new Diesel plant with regards to lower MPG to that of say your Cooper D.

I’d reset the MPG and see what its like to your own. They say you could chuck the older D around and it will still get great fuel return, chuck the new unit and your mid to low 50’s…

Seem like you like the new engine if you think it got more get up and go.
Is it quieter on tic over?
Mini as it was. As it is. As it always will be. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, it's up to you to decide if it counts!

Isn't the 'Overboost' automatically activated? There's only one way to get it to kick in and that's by (I presume) flooring it! I know in the S it boosts for so many seconds, i.e. in an overtaking situation.

I work that your getting close to 18 MPG if your getting 70 miles to your £25...Your either caining it to the extreame or that D is fecked....? Are you just sitting wheel spinning it for 30 mins before you go any place

I used to think buying ex demo/ex service car was a good idea but I am never going to do it again if they get treated so hard!

The horsepower is the same but the new diesel engine has more torque - 270nm (older Cooper D has 240nm) which may explain why it feels quicker.
Most reviews I've read say the newer Cooper D feels much quicker
