I was curious to see how I fared with my R56 Cooper in terms of getting my money back when I traded it in.

It was 28 months old and had covered 24k miles.

I paid ~£15 500 for it and received £10 450 for it as a trade in.

That works out at 67.4% retained value which I think is fantastic.

Even if I had only got the Glasse's Guide price, it would have retained 64% over this time, still pretty impressive I think.

    Hi Ken

We've just traded our R53 JCW after 49 months and 49000 miles.
Retained value is around 33% so we were happy with that.

I think thats a great price Ken. You must drive a hard bargain. Good on you. I have never been offered decent trade in values at Dunedin or Peter Vardy as its called now.

Yes the 135 is the replacement.

Made a wee mistake in my calculations my retained value is nearer 36%.

sounds like you got a great deal. My Cooper S after 5 months and 4000K miles only retained 75% of it's value which means I lost thousands and had to pay money to the finance company to get out of the deal...

Probably due to selling so early and it being a more expensive car

Nothing wrong with that on a high specced car.
