Cooper Coupe...
Fi, three months ago we were where you guys are now. Doing the searching, checking the listings and looking the "right" MINI to come along.
I must have called 20 or 30 dealers about cars, always asking what discount they would do for no trade in and cash payment. On cars priced £15k to £18k they would usually give £150 off straight away. When I pointed out that was bollocks they went away, spoke to their sales manager and came back with better deals - all varying in the depth of their pockets. Some would knock £250 off, some would knock £500 off.
One car we got very excited about at Specialist Cars in Stevenage was priced at £21,000! A huge chunk of change, well over our budget and seriously overpriced. They had been sitting on it for 3 months by then anyway and once I had "educated" the dealer into realising they had priced the car completely wrong, I eventually (after 6 weeks of pushing) got them down to £19,200. We paid our deposit, went down on the train to pick it up only to find it was a bag of spanners! Very badly stone-chipped, torn carpet in foot well, bald tyres (on the wear indicator!) and very poor quality paintwork - lots of swirls etc - Ian King would have had a heart attack! So we walked away from it, got a train back to Berwick and two weeks later we found and purchased our lovely Red R53.
We test drove about 5 or 6 MINI's during our search and we found a few of them were chocked to hell. Wouldn't pull the skin of the custard. Some of them had clearly been driven "properly" and were loose and pulled fine - including our red MINI.
Just thought I'd add my tuppence worth.
Oh aye, and Specialist Cars are STILL sitting on that same R53 Cooper S Auto with JCW Kit.
The moral of the story is, dealers will discount if you push. And make sure your deposit is refundable if you walk away from the car.

Very nice Fi!
Am I right in saying the Chilli pack on a Cooper doesn't give Xenon's. You need to spec them separately? If so, that car may not have Xenon's. Not sure if that is important to you.
Oh! aye! And! In our search we often found that dealers were making complete arses of themselves in listing the spec on their cars. We often found things missing, or things listed and when we got to the dealer to look at the car, we just got a "Oh, that must be a mistake - it doesn't have a sunroof - sorry."

Have to admit, the PW car does look great. One of my favourite mini colours!
I love PW. However, Jamie's checkmate is a great car, its even got the really good seats.
Im pretty sure you would get discount on the S Cabrio as its not at a main dealer, independants tend to give better discounts as they dont have as big an overheads bill.
My mate who is a dealer always gives £250 off straight away without trade in as garages dont want trade inns. I would try and banter that fellow down to just under £13k with TAX put on it as well. It would be a hell of a cheap car then.
