Just got back from John Clarks in Aberdeen from getting an oil service in my S. Car was clean ish just flies on windscreen and usual dust on the boot lid, so they washed it and now im home in sunlight the roof is full of swirls. Car was nearly swirl free this morning now it is full of swirls. I guess its another day in the garage with the pc to get them out again. Why they washed the car i dont know. Still Ragin!

they must have gone at it with a sponge and a bucket of dirty water.

Always best to get the service advisor to mark on the sheet 'do not wash' that way if they do wash it and swirl it up you have a come back and could hopefully submit an invoice from a specialist detailer to rectify the work.

If you don't want them to wash them, tell them when you take the car in, most dealerships will always give the car a quick once over.
It's a cheap and quick way of giving a good impression to a less than observant customer.

I wish it was only touched with a sponge n dirty water when i said to salesman he said they put it thru the drive thru car wash. Would have thought that a garage like John Clarks wouldnt have touched them horrible things.

Thats what I thought it wouldnt have been so bad if it was somebody doing it by hand but to think their putting it through car washes without asking first is a bit much. The car wasent even dirty for a start just came in from home 50 miles away in the dry so just dusty and one or two flies.

well i would get on the phone to the dealer principle and tell him how unhappy you are and you wan it sorted, if you don't get what you want over the phone, go into the dealer tomorrow afternoon 30mins before they close and refuse to leave until you get what you want, create hell in other words.

This whole senario winds me up and it's not even my car!!

at the end of the day there's nothing you can do, the damage has been done.

what the idiots should all do is ask the customer if he/she would like their vehicle washed ?

this is obviously too difficult for them to comprehend. if they were to spend more time servicing the car properly ie doing what you are paying for, then maybe they would even get that part half right.

learned from bitter experience to always ask Menzies not to wash my car.

The last 2 times Knottie 1 was in, they washed it (as I forgot to say) and it came back out with water marks all over it, which I could get out with a wash and had to polish and wax the whole car... not chuffed.. :( They seem to wash the car and not chamois it, therefore letting the water dry into the paintwork..

I don't subscribe to the "there's nothing you can do" scenario. I'd be back in the dealer first thing pointing out your car went in without damage and has come out damaged. Get if fixed or I'll send you the bill for fixing it.

It shouldn't matter that the "wash" was done as a courtesy. Damage is damage.
