Roof tears
Been looking at a convertible but upon close examination the roof appears to have a hole at each of the rear window about four inches each side , which must be caused by wear , is this a new roof job and is this a common problem ? Thanks

Not something I’ve encountered before

We had a few minis traded into the dealers I worked at some at 100k miles some with low miles none of them had roof wear. I would say unless you can find a roof fitter I would find another mini

I would expect some minor roof wear (dependant on mileage) where the roof folds but no actual tears. Walk away IMO

Never had that problem on any of our convertibles....defo a walk away....unless at a gift of a price!

Water in battery area? Not good. Here's my 2p, you can take it or not -
These cars are not rare, there's hundreds of them out there. This means you can afford to be choosy. Roof wear, and especially water around the battery, are not signs of a diligent previous owner. You have to take the clues the car offers, and build a picture of the type of owner and the care they lavished on the car. These facts do not point to a well-loved car, I don't think anyone on here would let that happen to their car.
Also, be prepared to travel for the perfect car - it's worth it if it's the spec and condition you want. I travelled from Aberdeen to Manchester to collect a Z4 for example
