Can anyone give me some information. The chrome exhaust tips on my 67 jcw f54 are starting to pit due to always being black from what I can only describe as being unused petrol. The car and the exhausts are washed every week. Thanks in advance

Give them a polish with some Autosol or the likes and some wire wool
Once polished (0000 wire wool if necessary) seal with Finish Kare 1000p
I use autosol if the tips are heavily coated in carbon otherwise I use carbon collective lustre and put a coat of am wheel wax on top and lasts quite a while afterwards the tips can be cleaned with just a wet microfibre
Thanks for the replies. Maybe I should have asked the question differently. Can you please tell me why the excess petrol is coming out black and causing this. It is a 2 litre jcw all 4 clubman. It has only done about 4500 miles. Is it running rich ?
In sport the Jcw and S use fuel to make the pops
Stock maps have always been on the rich side for safety
I have some pictures now. Attachment 7266

Yes that's completely normal, not even as black as others I've seen
