I've just seen a post on fb regarding power steering pump faults. He reckons there is a factory recall on 02 to 08 cars,does anyone know if this is correct ? Just asking because my steering pump didn't work for a wee while this morning. I had just put it down to the car didn't like the sub zero temps last night as my door handles weren't too keen on working either !
No recall as such, more like goodwill gestures. Mine failed after warranty (2008 iirc) & I paid for the pump (£94) & BMW paid the labour (£000?)
The Americans got a recall AFAIK as BMW are a bit more scared of them, but I doubt you'll get anything from them, especially now. If it's lasted this long you've done well, I'm still on the original pump and wouldn't bother going to BMW now as it's 13 years old - any part that fails at such an age you've got to take on the chin IMO, these are old cars now
