I love the second last pic Duncan, and makes me want 2012 to come along even quicker lol! (and yes I know we even have to get through 2nd half of '10 and all of '11!)
Still got exams :( Got one in an hour, nae good! Anyway, back on topic, did u guys miss the rain yesterday? Looked a bit gloomy when we left Inverness in the morning!
Thats me finally home. Got caught in traffic on the bridge! Was a fab run, cant wait for next years one hehe! Pics look good and as for peoples windscreen lets just say im calling for a replacement tomorrow lol! Worth it though roads were fab...

a BIG THANX to Paul for an epic run looking forward to the highlands and island's tour next year :thumbs up::yes nod:
Well, what a weekend. The absolute best mini run we have ever been on - bar none!:D
We've never been further north than Cromarty before so we were looking forward to the highland scenery and twisty roads. It delivered in
spades!
Many thanks to everyone for allowing a non-mini to join the ranks. I hope our Beemer isn't a blight on anyones pics.
Managed to keep the lid open all day sat and sun:D, and even have a strip of good old Scottish sun prickly heat rash to prove it.
But the biggest thanks have to go to Paul (Dogfather) for a stunning route, with stunning roads, all driven at a sensible pace with plenty regroups at junctions to make sure no one got lost.:thumbs up:
Brekkie in The Royal in Ullapool was probably the best hotel breakfast I've ever had. Brekkie in Inverness however.....
Banter between us all, first class as ever... Highlight being:
Our Beemer and the fossies car parked next to each other. Mum and I rumaging about in our boots...
Mum: "I'm just looking for some"
Me (interrupting): "Condoms?"
Mum: "Ha ha no. Got plenty of them. in fact we use a reuseable one now"
Me: "Ewww. Washed out with plenty detol I hope"
Mum: "Na, bleach"
You had to be there really.
Highlands & Islands May 2011. Sign us up now please:D. Should have our mini back by then, just called Vardy's and they are still working on it, should be ready tomorrow morning (better late than never).
A & L.:D
Some piccies from this weekends run...
Apologies if a wee bit of the Beemer slips into view in some of the pics.:laugh:

Cracking pics Andy. The first one is excellent, shame about that foreign car in it :D
Looks great - scenery is stunning!
Fab pics Andy! :) Encluding the one of us trying to get down the hill
some of use are bi-lingual ;)
good piccies - I will sort mine out when I get a moment. Might be a couple of days
Great pics Andy/lenore shame you never got either of your minis out, where was your "100% BMW" sticker for your beamer.
Honestly though that first pic is amazing.
Me and Catriona got home about 3pm after a rummage around Braemar and a couple of stops along Deeside to take in the scenery. We had a lovely time and many thanks to Paul for organising this. A mega job done superbly well. Thank you that man :clap::clap:
Catriona and I opted for the Alternative Tour this year - namely a Treasure Hunt through Wester Ross, with the treasure being missing minis. LOL after lurking in various places for hours almost choked on my ham sarnie when I heard them zooming up through Gairloch without stopping. Despite hitting the road as fast as I could get my shoes on we never seen the little blighters before Ullapool
Sleeping in the car was er!! an experience!!:laugh::laugh:How on earth Catriona slept through the alarm going off every hour or so beats me  but she did. Was well knackered by the time we rolled into Inverness.
Well done to Stewart though for reaching Inverness before the young guns in their GPs and Works :laugh::laugh: just goes to show the quiet ones are worth the watching
Catriona kept telling me to get a move on. Bless her socks she couldn't understand why I roared and laughed at her suggestion to get to the front of the minis. For as clever as Dougall is he's not yet mastered the art of flying.
We both had a lot of fun on those fabulous highland roads. Was really good to see those faces that are familiar and some that were not. Hope everyone got home ok.
Catriona wants to go on next year's run but she wants me to buy a mini like Emma's for it.
Dougall's had his bath and some pampering for all his hard work this weekend. Doesn't seem to be any the worse of the wear for his troubles. I did hear a couple of pings off his front bumper but no damage to be seen.
Thanks again Paul. That was a brilliant run :thumbs up:
Amazing weekend and huge thanks to Paul, yet again. Will post up properly later. Have had an hour's kip, something to eat and I'm off to pipeband practice.......with a brain that feels like a "pund o' mince". Mom's slumbing it in front of the tellie.....don't think she has a clue what's on it!!
“Highland Tour Challenge Cup”
Mini Utd 2 Weatherall FC 0
Not even twenty minutes of thick mist beat us... :thumbs up::thumbs up::thumbs up:
I got home just before 6 but that’s me taking the scenic route to Glasgow through the Trossocks …..The Dukes Pass had to be done but at the cost of Glasgow Rush hour:argh:.. Great few Days and that last 70 miles was stunning. How we managed to have Emma with her roof down over the three days and 90% on the Roads dry was amazing for the Weather forecast.:thumbs up: The sun just seemed to Follow us. You always hope it will be as good as last time and it did not disappoint.
Finally got to see Applecross, even if Alex’s brakes cooled quicker then we thought.(Dam them!) :ragin:
To (Dad)
“Here that looks like Mini’s going up the Coast”
Followed by “oh crap”
Also got a stone chip on the windscreen:sad:....very small so will get it filled. It’s the tyres that are needing new rubber:blush:
Just don’t mention the Sheep……….Bhaaaaaaaaa.

Had to include a pic of the bucket and post house. Last time I'd to wait here had pigtails & school uniform and the road was still single track.
Great pictures Sheilz, do you have one of you with pigtails and a school uniform please? :thud:....................it was worth the "kicking from Sioban, just to say that!!
It was a terrific run in all respects and and great to see all the peps from Northern Mini. Ian, hope the spots work. I think we should do a lot more joint runs, everyone got on so well.
Paul you are a star......top man, but you will have to learn to be much more respectful to Jaguar drivers:yes nod:
Thought Mom's latest mod worked well, really need to try and fit a proper "Tea Urn".
Didn't take too many pictures but here are a few.
View from Hotel....that whisky is making me see double!!

Got home safe and sound last night at about 21.15 hrs after a long but otherwise uneventful trip home (apart from the truck that chose to breakdown in the roadworks at Stirling :ragin:). So much for the lie-in this morning .... joined the 'wide awake club' at about 06.00 hrs - must have been all those early starts over the week-end  .... have so far managed to prevent myself from going out to the MINI to clean the windscreen and do the other pre-start checks though!!
Massive thanks once again Paul. I thought last year's run was fantastic .... but this year it was thoroughly awesome :thumbs up:. Sorry now that we missed the last stretch around the coast on Sat but had to get the 'whining' from the passenger side of the car attended to
It was great to meet some familiar faces from last year again and put some faces to more usernames :bigwave: Many thanks to Fiona for the recommendation on the Stirling B&B, Malcolm for the bar and fitting guide :thumbs up: and (last but not least) to Stoney for pics of the rear our MINI proving that I did use my brakes!
Will post some pics later once we have got them sorted.
See you next time
-Ian & Rita-
No words can describe how good that drive was, I could try but I'd not do it any justice whatsoever
Massive thanks to Paul, your a legend mate :thumbs up:
Thanks as well to Malcolm for my test drive, awesome sir :yes nod:
Finally, hats off to Alex, Ben & myself for 'stirring' our R50's up for battle with the turbo's & superchargers, it was one helluva drive :yes nod:
A&K
So who taught you to park MrP??? I just dont know....
That is an AWESOME photo...
Looks like you guys had an excellent weekend, some great photos folks. Well I hope to join you one of these years. :yes nod:
So is mum hankering for another cabrio is she? :D Well looks Emma and the Pooles in the ummmmm 1 series had great weather for top down motoring :thumbs up:
I thought that looked like you behind the wheel there Mr Crombers....
:thud: well Ill be damned, I NEVER EVER thought I would ever see or hear of Crombers sitting in an R56 never mind driving one, and now thanks to Sheilz we even have photographic proof!!
A random selection of our pics can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/3076621...7624132505230/
Well we had an absolutely fabby weekend- lots of gorgeous weather for going topless (I have the dodgy sunburn marks to prove it ), lots of great roads, lovely minis and most importantly great company :D All the pictures look great so far, Susan went a bit snap happy and took about 400 so will take a while to get them all sorted and uploaded. Big thanks to Paul for organising such a great run :thumbs up: Cant wait for next years :D
I even heard Crombers say he was interested in a Clubman! :thud:
Pics are all great! :-)
