Great day, thanks Rob & Craig.
After the demo thought my car was looking dirty so stopped at an automatic car wash on way home - love the sound those spinning brushes make against the paintwork. Car was however still dirty so when I got home got my one bucket and sponge and gave it a quick wash and then used a squigy thing to dry it - lol.
It did however get a quick snow foam - see some of you next week.

BIG Thanks to Stoney and Craig for tons of info on what to use, and where and when to use it. My car wasn't speaking to me when we left, as it found out I had buffed one of Stoney's panels - talk about an awkward silence on the journey home... But by the time we got back we were talking again. What did I really learn today? Bribe Stoney and Craig to help do my car next time!
Good to catch up and have a blether with my old pals and meet some equally enthusiastic new ones, now I'm especially looking forward to next week's MINI Launch Convoy - it's been AGES since I've been in a line of fab NMSmobiles.
Also can't go without mentioning JUDE's efforts on the Home Baking front - excellent chocolate cake! Wish I'd thought of asking for a doggy bag - if ther was anything left that is. Thanks Jude :thumbs up:
See Y'all next Sunday when NMS Rocks Kircaldy! :smug:
Hope we get lots of waves from folks along the way - just like back in the 'Good Old Days' eh? :bigwave:
Thanks very much Stoney for the use of the unit and all your help today.
Thanks to all that came along today - hope you all enjoyed it and learned something.
I'm hoping to do another day after the summer :)
See most of you next weekend :)

Thanks to Stoney and Craig today, learned lots of new things and if the weathers alright I'll try and put into action next saturday so it's nice and shiny before the Fairbairn run :thumbs up:
If you need a demo car for the next detailing day mine is available and waiting it's turn ;)
Craig/Stoney any chance when you've got a minute you could give us a brief run down of some of the products used? I can remember some of them but have a blank for parts of it. Cheers.
I'm away to hide my credit card!
Hi Andrew - no problem I'll do a list for reference :)

Sounds like it was a great day and those that attended will have no excuse now for a dirty car (and an empty wallet).
What I will say is there's a load of products available out there and it's down to personal preference on what product you decide to use. Some are expensive for what you get and cheaper products do the same job just as effectively so don't feel that you've to spend loads of money initially on products.
Happy car cleaning ...
I will do a list up later on there is still a few bits we did not cover like trims and exhausts but I will be doing those bits to night or 2morow ;)
Also a huge thanks to Brain for finishing fitting my OCC as well ;)
As mentioned on the day and Andrew has asked for it, here is a list of some products. As also discussed, these are what I use and may not work for you as everyone has their own preference. I now these work for me.
Wheels - Autosmart Smart Wheels, plus CG Decon
Snow Foam - Autosmart Actimousse XLS
Shampoo - CG Glossworks (at the moment) used to use AG Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner
Degreaser - Autosmart G101
Tar Remover - Autosmart Tardis
Decontamination - CG Decon
Trim - Autosmart Trim Ultra
Polish and waxes are a huge subject and there are different polishes and waxes for different cars so it's what works best for you. A bit of research and trial and error is what has worked for me. Detailing World is great for advice and Info.
Happy to answer any questions :)

Should have asked this yesterday, for us people that live in flats is there any way to use snow foam without a pressure washer, I do have an outside tap.
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
There used to be a device called a Gilmour Foam Gun that links to a hose, but I see now that Car Plan have brought out a snow foam. It comes in a 2l container and has an attachment on the top that connects to the hose. Not used it but it has some favourable comments online and tbh it will definitely be better than not using it at all as it will remove some of the muck off the car before hand washing ...

Thanks Craig I will have a look.

I've got one of those and it does a decent enough job, doesn't stick as much as the stuff used yesterday though, but that could be down to just the type of snow foam rather than the attachment.
I'm hampered by not even having an outside tap! so it's either pop to the folks and nick there drive for the afternoon or throw buckets of water at it! I am considering running a long hose out the window to the car park - not sure how the neighbours would feel
^^ I used to do that and the looks that I got dropping the hose from the 6th floor window were priceless lol ;)
Think I've ask you this before Craig, but can't remember what you told me... The trim on wheel arch and along the sill doesn't keep the shine on it for long, what's the best product to clean this, feel it needs to be cleaned with something then polish applied as what I'm using the plastic seems to lose it shine quickly... :idunno:
