Yes Rob, that's what you get when it's PARKED!

Good luck on getting an S.
I have had mine for four months now and love it.
My JCW is sitting at 38mpg :D 80 on the motorway for 20 miles then little town driving
Cruise control set at 70 from Aberdeen to Dundee in a 2010 got me 46.8 miles
:welcome: and all the best with your mini search.
cheers
love this but 8 grand! http://classifieds.pistonheads.com/c...d-video/817272
maybe if it had the JCW Recaros and brakes and 20k less miles
Are factory option stripes painted or vinyl?
stripes are vinyl. Really surprised me at first as I'd always presumed they were painted...
yeah I thought they were. oh well good news, some look good but some gash
My Cooper S stripes were painted :) for cleaning etc as vinyl ones were scratching so easy when cleaning :(
Tested an R53 today, not fast enough. Very stiff gearchange from cold.
The windows didn't squeak though lol also got a few smiles from girls, not sure how to interpret that though haha
Loving your decision making process! One thing though, how often are you up and down with your windows?! Is it a deal breaker? I'd vote for the r56 shape personally but more for aesthetics than mechanics :)
Deal breaker for sure, the car has to be faultless, i'm selling a very nice Golf for this, which is fault free with very good build quality. Going to something with squeaky windows will put me off.
Still after an R56, but a good example with no faults.
or was a GP ? ;)

In the politest way possible...good luck. I think most of us will be in agreement here that we buy these cars and put up with them because we love them. Most of us have encountered some kinda problem.
Also forgot to mention, avoid any with a panoramic sunroof as they rattle like mad too :thumbs up:
No need for a sunroof in Scotland
Forgot to mention that we have a sponsor on this NMS page
Click the Mini link and search for the car you want :thumbs up:
damn I wish I saw Billy was selling his Clubby earlier! i would have had it! http://www.newminiscotland.co.uk/for...g-my-Clubman-S
never had a problem with either of my sunroofs :) I love the sunroof, one of the reasons I bought brand new in the end as I couldn't find a second hand one with one!
A massive improvement :thumbs up: well done, that'll be it 'warmed up' :yes nod:

Suppose we are all different :idunno: but for me a 1st gen will always get 'the nod' :yes nod:
Put them side by side & I cannot fail to see who wins hands down :arms:
I'm with Amy on this one, I find the R56 a much more aesthetically pleasing car... but I preferred the drive of the gen 1.
Close to giving up on this. If it has the right options, the mileage is too high or it's the wrong colour. If its the right colour and options, it's too expensive. And everytime it's at least 200 miles away or the "Highland Tax" is added, for example an 07 Cooper S with 40k is around £9500 within 80 miles. The same car further south for £8000.
don't give up! :arms:
:D
In my experience if your looking fir a specific second hand car then it's well worth the travel.... Your example is a saving of £1500, so it might cost £100 to get it... Seems like a no brainer to me. I went all the way to Bournemouth to pick up a mini and I got it for nearly half the price I would have paid in Scotland... I would say concentrate on the spec and price and then look at distance. If it's from a mini dealer then they can ship so work that into the deal ;)
You are correct mate. I'm no stranger to travelling for a car, Inverness airport is handy :D
It's just having to trust a sellers description I don't like, going all that way to find faults never mentioned puts me off.
Completely understand that, loads of photos and questions always worked for me.... Plus other forums could give you advice on good or bad dealers in Englandshire ;)
Aye before I contact a seller, I always do a background research on google.
That doesn't fill me with confidence lol
I'm sure you could find a faultless car, and as you say, you're in no rush...but what you're looking for is so specific but the spec's coming from a totally different car. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has a car that isn't quite what I went looking for, and I do wonder if you could be missing a really great car just because it's missing heated seats or whatever else? Personally I'm always suspicious of a warm seat 😳
You'll stick in though til you find a cracker I'm sure, happy hunting.
What Gordon is saying is that NO MINI is perfect. They all have some little issue... My GP has a crack in the rear spoiler, has more rattles inside than a toddlers convention and it cost about 3 grand more than your budget.
Tbh you could buy a £25k new mini and still have faults ... It's part of their charm !!
Craig! It's not that they're not perfect, they just don't have the correct owner. It's true though, unless you build the car yourself and spec the living daylights out of it, you'll never be 100%
I stand by my comments ... Every mini has its faults... ;).
