Haven't been on for a bit as fed up with my mini's **** tyres and have been a mood with him! Last year I had a wee ford ka that was great in the snow but mini is crap! yes I have runflats and heard they are crap but seriously do I really have to buy new winter shoes for my car?? and does size matter? lol
No you dont.... but you would notice a massive difference. For snow the narrower the tyre the better. Plus if you go for a smaller size its cheaper. Winter tyres are not just for snow they start to out perform summer tyres at temps below 7 DegC.Quote:

Had to get to Glasgow today from Peebles. Couldn't take M8, closed so thought take train but not running. Eventually went M9 and then A80. A80 some of worst conditions I have ever seen and so uncomfortable, was like driving over cobble stones for 3 hours. Just glad I only have 16" wheels and it isn't lowered.
Took 4.5 hours to get their and 2.5 hours to get back - a great day.

I was not impressed with the RF. Just ordered four new tyres there uniroyal non RF that will be getting fitted Monday. I've been needing tyres on the front for months. I'll sell on the rear that have a good bit of life left in them.

speaking with our local tyre fitter they sold £7000 worth of winter tyres in two days and this is not a big place
another annoying thing about all this snow.. I've not had my Next (the clothes shop) delivery order a week past friday.:argh::argh:

Yeah there are some folk who are maybe genuinely stuck living in many of the more rural areas but when I look at the number of 'no shows' amongst some of my staff and knowing where they live then no sorry, many folk are simply at it!!
Snow comes down on Monday & I get the call from Karen at 2pm to start preparing to dig my car out, job done. Started off at 9pm and took 1 hour to get to work (Newton Mearns to East Kilbride) on time at 10pm. Turnout for nightshift, less than 30%. (oh & this is in no way to slight those who were stuck on Monday afternoon & evening as gridlock set in big time as this would have been horrendous). Then last night set off at 9pm and got to work in 1/2 an hour, things obviously improving on the roads. Get to work and yes attendance levels have improved but yet again the usual suspects 'hiding' behind the conditions, who live nowhere near the worst affected areas & do not use the roads that have been affected!!
On the way to work last night my exhaust gave up the ghost before the rear silencer and was left precariously suspended by just one bracket. Went to start the Punto this morning at 7am (another late departure as day shift colleagues claimed they struggled to get their cars on the move!) and the battery said feck you matey, it's -16 & I ain't got enough poke to get things going! Magic stuff eh! So out with the jump leads and we get things going again. Easy for me at this point to just head for home and just use this as my excuse at 9pm tonight to waive my attendance at work. But no that just ain't in my makeup. Off to the local garage this morning at 8.30am (well after my bed time) to get things sort of sorted. Exhaust yanked off with small crowbar and a new battery fitted FOC as it was less than a year old and I was told it should certainly have lived longer than it did.
So I'm again ready to get to work again tonight (with one very loud Punto) as some others will still be sitting cosied up in there homes giving it the two fingers!!!
