Anyone fancy a run around the Lake District? It will include a over night stop near a Jennings Pub. I'll be down south next year and I know the roads better than most.
I'll even hire a MINI for the Day :)
Any interest please post below :D

I'll post up some dates in and we'll have a vote. I need to decide on a route as well, expect Hard Knot and Honister Pass to be in there though.

More details to follow this weekend, I'm unlikely to hire a MINI but the Smart will certainly be able to set a decent pace even for the JCWs.

I'll be having a look around tomorrow, weather permitting.
I'm hoping to put together a run which takes in the majority of the high passes including Wrynose and Hard Knot. There will be an overnighter on the Saturday probably in a Travel Inn or a cheaper hotel.

Not so sure this is such a good idea, I've been to the lakes the past couple of weekends and the roads have been silly busy. Most of the driving has been at 30mph or less, very frustrating.
I'm going to put this idea on hold.

no bother Paul, thanks for the info, we would probably have to cancel anyway, too many things on during this time and also looks like I may be taking on the Air Bases Run and all that that entails. :D

I think the borders are probably a better bet; someone's already beaten me to those road though :)

To be honest I think the best time for a lake land rallye is in Oct-Nov or Jan-Feb. Soon as the weather starts to brighten up, all the roads are heavin. if you have a look on www.mivec.co.uk (a local fto site to this area) its has got writeup's and photo's of what they did in the lakes.

October's good as the scenery's fantastic at that time of year, perhaps a postponment might be a better idea
