Hi.

The MINI has 3 (4 including the Diesel) models.

The entry level is the One, followed by the Cooper, then the Cooper S.
The Diesel is only on the One, and is a 1.4 Toyota engine.
The others all have the same basic 1.6 engine, yet they produce quite a range of power.

The One produces 90bhp, the Cooper 110, and the S started at 163bhp.

The trim specs are quite different too.
On the early models, you got a Salt pack on the One, which included options such as front fog lights, height adjustable seats, and other wee items.

The Pepper and Chilli packs were available on the Cooper and Cooper S models, and included other options such as half leather seats, and suspension options.

Most MINIs were spec'd with an options pack, and it tends to be a better thing to have for resale, rather than spec'ing individual items, and its cheaper too.

Also, there was a face lift from the 54 plate onwards, with revised bumpers and interiors, a new gearbox on the One and Cooper, and more interior lights.

Any other questions, just ask, as someone should be able to answer them!

NIce Lupo, I used to have a Polo GTi.

You'll probably find the Cooper a bit slower than your GTI, and the Cooper S quite a bit quicker. Only the Cooper S has the 6 speed gearbox if your used to having 6 gears.

The best thing would be to go and test drive ,and compare with what you have ,looks like the cooper would be your best comparison , then try the S (big difference in power) if that's what your after .then look at what you can really afford

Cooper with chilli pack i'd say, ideally a facelifted model that way your avoiding *most* of the niggles. There'll be loads of them making their way onto the used forecourts due to the new mini being released so youll have plenty of choice to choose from. Best bet would be a mini from a user of this site as they are all well looked after and given plenty of TLC :D

I'd say the Coop produces 115bhp (& on MINI2 there was a tread that quoted a line from a BMW insider that it was more like 120 :p)

The 'facelift' 'S' pumps out 170bhp

I'll give you the cooper one, but I put the S "started" at 163 as the original incarnation did ;):p

If you're not overly concerned with speed, you might change you're mind with a ONE compared your current gti, however, all is not lost.
If you decide on a ONE more for looks etc, then a simple remap will bring you up to Cooper power, the suspension is easily changed, you hinted at lowering, so, again no need to go for a Cooper straight away.
It all depends on how much money you have and how far you wanna go :p

Welcome to teh site by the way ;)

Nice Lupo!
One of our ol' members got himself one when he sold his Cooper. ..And he sold his wheels to me

Why bother with a Cooper when you can make aOne look just as good? ;):D

Nice lupo gti you have. i used to have one before i got the mini. Go for a cooper and put lots of toys on it. will feel a bit slower than the gti at first but when ur mini is run in there wont be a noticeable difference. Plus then handling on the mini is 1000% better then on the lupo:D:D.
