Hmmmmmmmm

AVG I have been told is good (never used it myself)

my PC was provided through a home computing government scheme and came with Norton Antivirus and it's worked without issue...

I have used Solo Antivirus and it is very good only about £18 per year..

Just my tuppenceworth...

I foolishly let my subs run out last year. I went for about a week without new virus subs. Got a virus that wrecked my hard drive. Cost me £200 for PC shop diagnosis, new hard drive and installation etc.

The flip-side:

Lenore's Dad let his subs run out in June 2005!!! He called me the other day to say he was having PC problems. Went over to his house, installed a new version of NAV, scanned the whole PC and not one single virus found. Granted, he is only on dial up and he only goes on line to check his email 2 or 3 times a week, so his exposure is minimal.

I guess the answer is: "You DONT pay your money, you takes your chances!"

A.

Norton is as big a virus as any! It saps your pc's resources and stuff. A couple of really good free ones out there.

AVG :- http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
Avast :- http://www.avast.com/

Personally i use nod32 (http://www.eset.com/) been running it years and you dont notice it running but it picks up any threats instantly (much quicker than my experience with Norton/Macafee due to them being so bloated now), but it is pay... but definitely worth it mate.

I would NOT renew with Norton if I were in your position, and I was a few years back.

Exactly what Shaz says
Bin the Norton yesterday!!!

AVG is an excellent free product.. Only reason I'm not using it now is cos I get the latest McAfee free from work, giving it a try to see how it goes. So far it's been excellent... if a bit sucky on thesystem resources..

Do It! geet AVG! :D

I trust you have Anti Spyware software and firewall software already? ;):p

AVG will not be free from early 07. I used this for 3 years and very impressed with product.

Norton installed tonight on laptop as comes with BT Broadband option 2.

AVG will still be free - it's just that you have to find it :)

They have upgraded the product and the wording is VERY misleading to imply it won't be free anymore, but if you go to the website you can still get a new version of the free product.

Broony you want to go to WWW.avast.com and download their security. Avast is probably the best and also free. but dont download the professional one.
