I dunno, at least its headlights are round and at the front, instead of halfway back on the side of the bonnet...
To be brutally honest, it looks far more like a classic mini than the 2006 MINI - especially from the B pillars forward.

Just like the new model...
I know the new new Mini *isn't* cheap and tacky.. it just looks and feels like it a bit... Some nice touches right enough.. but it's not a Mini any more. It's a small BMW :(

So was the last one, the last car had very very little in common with the original mini.

* Roundish headlights at the frontish
* Cooper S at least had a Cooper style slatted grille
* Developed in conjunction with Rover
* Development in Britain
* British designed gearbox
* 'Chrome' bumpers front and rear
* Full width Parcel shelf
* largeish pockets beside the backseat
* squeaks
* ratles
* incredibly firm ride
Just a few that I can think of!

* Roundish headlights at the frontish - still the same
* Cooper S at least had a Cooper style slatted grille - not all mini's had a slatted grille
* Developed in conjunction with Rover - and that's a good thing?
* Development in Britain - Does anyone know where the R56 was developed? Its certainly built here.
* British designed gearbox - Which is the R50 major fault
* 'Chrome' bumpers front and rear - See comment re chrome above
* Full width Parcel shelf - Hardly a major point, the original mini was a saloon not a hatchback
* largeish pockets beside the backseat -
* squeaks - another fault
* ratles - another fault
* incredibly firm ride - another fault
The last MINI didn't rust, drop oil, have terrible crash protection, or have a 4 speed box does that mean it was a fake?
New New MINI and mini
Built in UK - Both
Front Wheel Drive - Both
Fun Handling - Both
Called a MINI/mini - Both
Looks like a MINI - Both
Cheap to run (not S) - Both
Its even more petty than the old/new mini debate when the last one came out :evil:

I think the parcel shelf he means is the one in the front, not the back - where they later put a glovebox, which was as per the original car, if not eactly practical - I for one would have been happier with a glovebox when it first came out.
