Ah the beauty of a Mini, today for the first time in 3 years I achieved over 40 mpg on my commute to work.

Ok it was 40.3 mpg but still broke the magic 40!

Minis you gotta love 'em

I thought the current MINI's fuel economy was poor. The new version looks a lot better, not sure I believe the figures though!

I'm more than happy with mine, 40.3mpg on my regular commute (golf was lucky to see 32mpg) and 45 mpg on the motorway on way back from Menzies yesterday.

Next time I get my favourite B road quiet I'll let you know how low I can get the MPG

Mine wasn't an all out attempt to get the fuel economy as low as possible though

Going to the Aberdeen MOC day at Alford last year from Alloa, I used a whole tank getting up there and back. 240 miles, 17mpg I think it was :p

The joys of an empty A93 :D

I achieved the 40.3mpg on MCS with 1800 miles on clock, will the economy improve with mileage?

Fuel consumption slipping only 39.8 mpg on way to work today.

Must try harder

Hmm, i'm finding it hard to believe that an S can achieve over 40 mpg :p i'm guessing this is using the onboard computer ;)
I think that a more realistic method would be to zero your trip counter and then fill up with fuel and work out the mpg from that ;)
I think you'll find a more reliable mpg figure

ive never had more than 38 in my cooper

OBN

Yep using onboard computer. Was the way I measured last cars fuel consumption therefore best way to compare.

Achieve it by sticking on the cruise control at about 50ish for the A roads, as usually stuck behind a lorry or 4 and road is too busy to overtake, and then trundling dual carriageway and motorway around 65ish still on cruise.

The best I have seen on my JCW was 38mpg, cruising from Wick to Ullapool. Single track a lot of the way and blind corners, so I was never really above 50mph.

But its much more fun at 17mpg and 6000rpm :D

43.4mpg today road into Glasgow was flowing freely

I struggle to get my MCS over 29mpg unless im going somewhere on the Motorway and stich the cruise on about 80mph ish and then it's only 35 or 36MPG.

Then again I didnt buy the car for it's fuel economy so who cares what it does mpg wise it's how fun it is to drive.

If you worried about fuel economy why didnt you buy a Mine One D

Don't do diesel!

I got the mini as something that was a bit more economical than my Golf was, very surprised with the figures I'm getting from it. 90% of my car use is for commuting.

The other 10% is fun and I really don't car at all what the mpg figure is then.

It can be done. Love those 4 spot lights, I've been toying with getting a pair fitted but like the look of 4, don't mean to copy but it does look well smart.

Was doing a bit running about this weekend so reset the trip on Friday morning and when i filled up tonight got 29.1mpg on the obc and yikes 27.5mpg when i worked it out the old fashioned way.

I reckon I got about 26mpg at most on the Bunker Run, but I was giving it some welly quite a lot. Best I've had from the 'S' is about 38-ish on a long run with 'mixed' driving. Still, I didn't buy it for the economy, and the exhaust sounds fine when heading for the redline!
