Run to St Andrews :: Sunday 29th Feb 2004

Leaving perth at 10am, at Esso petrol station, broxden services perth, stopping for lunch at st.andrews & photos, more details of run soon, going to do dry run in jan.
so far about 50 for lunch.

RULES OF THE RUN

Try to keep the car in front and behind in view at all times. Whilst there are very few traffics lights and junctions along the way its more than likely that splits will form. Just try to keep with a group and you should be able to reform at the next stop point. A little thought for the car behind will go a long way. If you lose sight of the car behind especially when approaching junctions or forks, drop back a little to ensure they go the right way. Not everyone is a total speed freak, plus there are plenty of sheep, pheasants and yokels strategically placed to ambush you when least expected.

Please be considerate to both the rest of the group and any poor fool who happens upon us. It's not a race so we don't want to see people blasting past others.

Please ensure that you have a full tank of fuel.

The organisers accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or death incurred as a result of this event. It is assumed that all participants have adequate insurance, road tax and driving licences.

By participating in this event it is taken as read that you agree to the terms herein.

Welcome to NMS woody, if you read the mini meets forums and this thread from the start you'll discover that a few of us lunatics get together at various times for a wee run.
Normally someone and others will organise an event that takes in some good driving roads with nice scenery, which usually ends with a stop for a bite to eat to exchange stories etc, mostly about our cars.
As many as 20 odd cars can often be seen zipping around the scottish countryside, many more in england if you dare to venture that far.
Anyone can take part and you'd be more than welcome, a few simple rules should be noted however, it is not a race and dangerous driving is frowned upon, sorry to have to bring that up.
If you decide this is the kind of thing you want to do, simply post back saying you want to join in the fun and look out for the meeting times and start point.
Add your name and any passengers so that the organiser (seany this time around) can arrange for the food stop.

After all that we are a friendly bunch who just love to drive our cars.

Hope you can make it, by the way, where are you from etc, trot along to the introduce yourself lounge and tell us a bit about yourself

New to the forum and relatively new to the MINI's (got ours at end December 2003). Love the MINI and really want to drool over others'.

Is the StAndrews run open to all? In other words,.... Can we come?

Also, is the route planned out? Leaving Perth at 10AM I know, and lunch in StAndrews. But where in between? And is it compulsory to meet in Perth? Can we tag along somewhere in between?

I believe the run is sorted out, not sure as it has not been posted up, but, generally it's better to all be at the start, it's not always possible but timings are never quite spot on.

Leave a word for Seany who will get back to you with a better idea of the route etc

Above all we are all here to have fun and enjoy ourselves :)

I'd just like to draw everyone's attention the the following. These are a few guidlines which have appeared on any previously organised run notes. A MINI run is a great day out and as long as everyone sticks to these simple rules it should remain so. Have a great day.

RULES OF THE RUN

Try to keep the car in front and behind in view at all times. Whilst there are very few traffics lights and junctions along the way its more than likely that splits will form. Just try to keep with a group and you should be able to reform at the next stop point. A little thought for the car behind will go a long way. If you lose sight of the car behind especially when approaching junctions or forks, drop back a little to ensure they go the right way. Not everyone is a total speed freak, plus there are plenty of sheep, pheasants and yokels strategically placed to ambush you when least expected.

Please be considerate to both the rest of the group and any poor fool who happens upon us. It's not a race so we don't want to see people blasting past others. Anyone who does so will be asked to leave the run.


IMPORTANT: The organisers and NEWMINISCOTLAND accept no responsibility for any loss, damage, injury or death incurred as a result of this event. It is assumed that all participants have adequate insurance, road tax and driving licences.

Shaz, the lay-by just over the FRB or the or the park and ride at Inverkeithing would be a better place to meet. Hermiston Gait is a wee bit of a detour if you're heading north.

Broxden Services are just off the roundabout where the A9 meets the M90 at Perth. When you reach the roundabout take the road into Perth (A93) and the service area is just off to your right. It's pretty well signposted anyway :)

The park and ride on the Inverkeithing side is a place we've used before. The overflow for DSW is locked outwith peak times.

I have been informed that the Glenfarg road is currently VERY slippy and VERY dangerous due to the oil from the landfill site traffic (only landfill in Scotland that takes all the nasty stuff!!), which has resulted a two major accidents at the weekend and several minor ones!! My boss lives in Glenfarg and says that evernight his car likes to go sidey-ways, so be warned!!!

p.s. all those with air-horns, can you give them a blast as soon as we enter Glenfarg at the 30mph signs!!!! TA!!:D

We should note Julz' warning about the Glenfarg road, and remember ALL roads are pretty greasy with salt and other crap - TAKE IT EASY!!!

We all know the MINI handles, but “Ye canna change the laws o' physics”. No heroics please. Boring I know, but I thought it needed saying. Remember poor Mellow Yellow - and that wasn't even Kirsty's fault.
