Rear discs scored

Anybody suffer bad scoring on there rear discs.

If so what reaction did you get from your dealer?

Didn't agree with my dealers explanation, but got similar response from Mini Customer services.

I sent an email to Mini customer services, they say a stone must of been flicked up from the road surface and lodged between the pad and disc.So sorry no warranty claim as its external damage that caused the scoring. Not a manufacturing fault.

I've replied with "what both sides similar scoring"

The car has covered 20500 miles.


So I would be grateful if any of you out there have had similar experience.

Mines still fine and I have covered 19500 miles now 13000 in the past 8 mths I thought it would be covered with warranty. I know that my bosses Laguna had a disc fault on the rear similar to this and he was covered by warranty and the car was over two years old.

The dealership didn't mention wear on the pads.:(
Just that its better to replace both if your putting on new discs.:D

also my mum's Jazz front disc's were like this @30k just before her waranty was up. Honda replaced them

sounds like the dealers trying it on keep complaining you have nothing to loose

Had full rear caliper, disc & pad replacement on my last Cooper (under warranty) but it was clear the discs had scored due to the calipers sticking on.

it's a bit of an odd one they seem to suffer really badly in that area as a rule of thumb lower mileage examples discs will rot and higher mileage ones seem to develop lips... the only thing i can think of thats any different from other cars rear disc brakes is the lack of a metal splash guard behind the disc but wether that would actually affect the wear i doubt.. other than it would definately help eliminate the chances of a stone getting caught...
