You not liking the new Mini then Heather.:) What about the interior did it tick any boxes for you. Do have any pics at all. you didn't happen to take pictures on the VW stand did you.

I think it's just terrible... its like they've forgotten its a Mini... like they've forgotten what they were trying to achieve with the 1997 design. And I'm sorry, but the inside just looks naff compared to the simple funkiness of the original. I find myself looking at the current ones on the road and admiring the design more now!
Whatever car that is that Heather's posted pics of, is far FAR closer to the Mini concept. I think Issigonis would approve of it. Imagine it with black arches, and in a Cooper S version.

The interior was just a bit too like all the recent facelifts of the BMW's. We walked accross from the MINI to look at the Z4M and the interiors are similar in many ways. The headlights are almost wrap around and just not right. The arches are too big. I have a pic which i will post when i get home of the webspokes (which i have on kitty) and they look tiny and out of place. I really wanted to like the facelift but as Rob says, they have moved too far from their orignal concept for me to like it. Sorry Fi, could hardly get near the VW stand but i do have some nice Audi shots:D

The new new mini looks pretty much the same as the previous version. It's not as pretty but the styling cues are all there (bushel, lights even the interior is a interpretation of the original)

well....went to the motor show yesterday....the new mini really is nice in the flesh. I was really impressed with the whole car overall, wasnt that excited about it from seeing it in press shots etc but seeing it in the flesh has changed my opinion! Exterior wise, the changes are minimal (unless you are looking to pick holes in the new design and dont like it!) and I dont think it messes with the character of the mini. It still looks and feels like a mini, just slightly more improved! However I do think that the cooper s looks FAR better than the cooper cos of the slight differences between the two! The interior of the car just 'feels' better more comfy, slightly roomier, better laid out and cooler imo. Driving position feels slightly better as well. Boot looks a bit bigger than the current model, which is a bonus! Couldnt see the switch colour lighting cos the girl didnt speak english and didnt know wat i was saying, if your getting a new one..you HAVE to get the ipod connection, its so cool, you plug your ipod into a lead in the glovebox (like the current one) and you can flick through all your albums/playlists etc and control the ipod via the controls on the speedo in the centre console! Well nifty:cool: Also, if you get satnav, the speedo needle moves from the outside of the speedo as opposed to-from the centre of the dial..Cool! The sunroof is huge and looks much better than the current one imo. Fiona...Mellow yellow is AMAZING! Good choice ;)(and im not usually a yellow fan) Sparkling silver is much nicer than it appears in any photo, you just cant judge it off a picture imo. The lounge seats (similar to rover 75 numbers or not) are incredibly comfy! they have a lot more support than the current sports seats do, the back seats are reasonably comfy too. The start/stop button is a wicked feature too! If im honest, I wasnt keen on the redwood red full leather interior...just didnt look nice...however the new beige full leather is georgeous! The half leather seats arent really half leather cos theres hardly any leather on them! For those that were wondering, im sure the multi spoke 17's on the mellow yellow cooper s are called R100's.
All in all, I really like the new model and I think in time it will be a big hit...imo of course:p

:D I dont see the point in getting all cynical (spelling?) until you see the car up close, yeah sure they have changed things a bit....who cares, the changes were made for a reason and at the end of the day...its still a mini....love it or hate it, but I think its a 'refined' version that will make you doubters come around in the end;)
