Adding BMW Spots

Anyone out there added 2 spots (giving 4 in total) to the existing dealer installed spots onto the bonnet :question:
I know BMW and MINI do not recommend it ;)

I'm curious to know how you connected the wires, either by splicing into the dealer install or onto the main beam with a relay etc and if the self tapping screws are suitable to keep the brackets secure

If I replace the existing spots for the 4 lamp kit and use the wires that were used for the dealer install the spots should still work as they have been turned on in the ecu :question::question:

We have recently removed our BMW spots and replaced them with 4 wipac ones (From E-Bay). We used the BMW wiring and just added an extra piece of wire - see photo

The wipac spotlights have just one wire coming out from the bottom. The spots are earthed to themselves, so the earth wire on the BMW loom is not required. There is no need to use extra relays or anything like that - it should all work!

I do have a spare pair of BMW spots plus brackets if you want them (mail me for details) - the spots will require new bottom bolts as I had to cut them to remove them. I would also recommend you use pop rivets to secure the brackets and not self-tapping screws.

Brilliant :) now i'm gonna go and buy the ones i saw on eBay.
I'll not need your old brackets and spots as the ones i'm buying have the brackets supplied, i'll take your advice and use pop rivets.

It will work ,however that system has too many potential fault areas (connectors and crimped joints etc )ie top pic conductors exposed as in the far right connection in the second picture ,you need to tidy the connections Gill or you might have trouble later on ...water and electrical things dont do well together ;)

Angus, we exposed the connections in the picture to let Bonnie Scotland see!!!

They are all beautifully taped up again now!!!
