Taxis in Edinburgh?

We plan to catch the 7am train from Edinburgh to London on Jan 2, and the buses don't run till after 9. Do taxis run that early? Do I have to book a day ahead, or just get up and call at 6 am to come get us?

I'm surprised the buses are not running then, but then it is a holiday here. Where are you going from?

Taxis run 24 hours here. I've often got one before 5.30am to get to the airport from my house.

You can either book the day before (probably best) or just call when you get up. The Edinburgh firm I use is City Cabs on 228 1211.
