What should I do?
Its a bit of a long story the Omega and the Mazda are going and I'll be replacing them with just one car.
I've narrowed down my potential choices to the either a 2004 330Cd, 330d Touring or waiting until the new MINI Cooper S comes out. Both have similar fuel economy going off the figures, the diesel being a wee bit better and probably a lot better in real world driving. Both have very good performance, will cost the same (£17k) and handle well.
Obviously the 330 is bigger but that's not a priority so favouritism aside what would you buy, and why?

Just drove the 330d, not that impressed its was a 2002 model and only had 184bhp. Looks like I need to go for a 2003 model to get the 204bhp engine :(

If your doing miles, a 330d is the one to get, otherwise the MINI would get my vote.

Id go for the 330d. I used to have a 2002 325CI and it is a much better all round car than the Cooper S and not much worse fuel wise, Mini is more fun on back roads when your in the mood for fun but other times it can be a bit of a drag.
Just make sure you get one with all the toys, e.g H&K, elecy seats, xenons, leather etc

Because I've only got 18k to play with right now, I can always wait until January when we'll be in the new house.

Sheesh, you must be the hardest guy to help ;):D you change cars and you're mind way too often ;)
My choice, if it don't matter what car you want and you ask on a mini forum............. then i'd get the cheapest car you can find cause you're just gonna change it in a few months :I:D
Mini all the way :approve:

Two very different cars, you can't really compare them in any way.
The mini is just great fun, but its slightly selfish as basically its a two seater. If you dont need the space get the mini, regardless of budget you dont get much more fun than one.
No experience of a touring but I would predict a good drive if a little boring, I would probably be really enthusiastic for a few weeks then sell it losing a packet and then just end up buying a mini anyways.
If the new new mini's are anything like the current models for holding their value it will be a great purchase.

I think it will be a new MINI but only in January, I thought I had a buyer for the omega but she checked her insurance and too expensive for her.
The Astra is available on a 06 with 3k miles, but unless I can shift the Omega then I'm snookered.
