Need some advice...

I'm looking for a hotel over on the West Coast for a couple of nights next month. Location is slightly un-important but we do want certain things - great food and great views!

Anybody got any ideas or suggestions?

it's westish... Ballahulish (Spelling ?) Isle of Glencoe hotel.

link here - www.freedomglen.co.uk/isle_of_glencoe/fg_ig_001.asp

I've stayed there a few times... the views are superb and the food is excellent. Always been treated well and the rooms are very nice.

They should also have some deals on next month...

Best of luck..

Budget isn't too strict - don't want to go completely nuts but am not that worried about it.

In terms of location, again, not too worried and open to suggestions. I've been round Tighnabruaich before and liked it, but really not set on any specific area. More then likely though Argyle would be the target as it's easier to get to Aberdeen from there.

We will probably do some walking and maybe hire bikes if we can, do some touring in the hire car (trying to convince the missus to let me hire a Boxter - it's not working though!). Would like some nice beaches to look at from the car (I'm expecting it to rain, always does when i go to the west coast!), a nice hotel with views would be great and good food!

Achmelvich it is. very nice might be a bit far for you to travel it's about a hour half or maybe two hours from Inverness.

You know Dornoch has a lovely beach some awesome views round this way Grannies Heilan Hame. You could cycle the canal down Doch Garroch but then main road until you pick up the great glen way not sure of exact route.

The Palace @ Inverness is nice I am sure Bog Col stayed there or the Drummossie

got some great places to eat Invernss like Rocpool cafe One, Abstract, to name but a few

and not to far to travel to Aberdeen.

Loch Melfort Hotel at Arduain (http://www.lochmelfort.co.uk) would be another good idea ,cracking views over the Loch and the islands

It does look gorgeous, but may be a bit far north when I think about travel time (we'll land about 1 in the afternoon into either Glasgow or Aberdeen). But it's that kind of thing I had in mind!

I am just back from here (http://www.mellowmelfort.com). Its self catering but has the most amazing restaurant nearby and they are opening their own next month. Each lodge overlooks the loch and has its own sauna and jacuzzi:D. They also have special rates for couples.
