View Full Version : The MINI has gone....Pics of replacement, page 3!

I finally sold my Cooper S on Wednesday night, I was gutted to see it go. I wasn't going to replace it due to work commitments however, I did.

Picked up a Clio 182 Trophy, wow, it is an absolute hoot to drive. As much as I loved the MINI the Clio is just much more exciting than the MINI.

If anyone is interested I will post some pics later!

I like the renaultsport clios, not too keen on the current models though. Clio v6 has a special place in my heart, stunning car!

To say either is better than the other is purely opinion, not fact. Wouldn't give my cooper up if i was offered a 172/182 etc clio sport though...

thats like saying a cooper s is just like a mini one but it's not, is it?

trophy is a excellent car. would beat any mini for pace bar the highly tuned ones. yes it's still a clio but it's been designed as a proper drivers car. read any issue of evo etc to find out. seats are very lush too ;)

get some pics up to brian!

I loved the V6 Clio, nearly bought one, a Clio might be faster but MINI will always be cooler.

The Trophy only comes in red so no white stripes anywhere.

I would not replace the MINI with a car worse than the MINI therfor the comment about it being better is because IMO it is!

I find it better handling and much better accelerating. It certainly beats the MINI hands down in that department.

Fe, he is only expressing his opinion. Which he is entitled to, at the end of the day.

But we'd better not tell him what we did to the Range Rover owners who came onto www.x5drivers.co.uk and started saying how much RR's were better than X5's.;):blackeye::blackeye::blackeye::blackey e::D

But, no matter how good it handles etc, its still a Renault which means in 2 years time it'll be worth half what you paid for it and it'll probably have broken down at least once or will have at least one fault which the dealer can't fix despite 5 visits.

This is the price of Renault ownership :( hence the reason I didn't buy the V6 Clio

Yes it is still a Clio but how are you going to feel when a 'Clio' upsets you on a twisty back road, lol!

I will still pop back on the forum as I find it very friendly and I promise not to keep telling you all that my car is the best hot hatch ever made!

There's a good 15 car shootout in EVO this month trying to decide on the best front wheel drive car ever. The Trophy does well but the Honda Integra Type R wins it. The GP does ok as well, makes it into the final 6 but gets slagged off a little bit for having too many stickers on it! lol.

Brian_Cooper_S
5th August 2006, 03:05 AM
Yeah that is a good write up on 15 wicked cars. I think the 'Clio' does quite well tbh. Only if they had made them properly and fitted a LSD.

I am currently stationed in Northern Ireland, have been for 3.5 years and before that spent 3 awesome years at RAF Lossiemouth. What did you do in the RAF?

The Bull
5th August 2006, 07:41 AM
Was a Fairy on 43 Sqn Leuchars for 9 1/2 excellent years and the other 3 at Cosford. (Appo :D )

Brian_Cooper_S
5th August 2006, 05:17 PM
Sunny Leuchars, nice. looking to get there in a few months and to join the Mountain Rescue team.

I await the comments from non RAF people about you being a fairy. lol

Brian_Cooper_S

That would not be a problem, you would not be disappointed.

I was looking to but an Integra Type R - DC2 or DC5, drove the DC2 back to back with the Trophy and can you guess what one I liked???

Where do you live?

The Bull
7th August 2006, 01:20 AM
My brother in laws best mate has a DC5 and it is lovely. Championship white with Mugen exhaust system. Mmmmmm.

I really appreciate the offer but unfortunately I'm in Arbroath but if you are ever going to be in the area give me a shout. :D:D:D
