Welcome to the site, hmm 20 year old in glasgow, insurance will depend on whether you have any no claims bonus, if not, then i'd expect somewhere in the region of £1100

Alright rob, no idea what the insurance would be but have you given Mini insurance a ring to see what they are saying?

You should be able to get insured on an S for much less than 4k! I was 21 when I got my cooper and my insurance was £780 ish. I cant remember exactly how much the S insurance was for me but I remeber being shocked becasue it was almost double the price, but not quite.

Try tesco and swift. But go to their sites rather than through confused.com. Certain insurers will reject you if you go through confused, but accept you via their own sites. That in itself is confusing.

Hello and welcome :D

Defo buy an 'S' if you can, although some say the cooper better to drive (but don't listen to them!:p)

<shakes head in knowing disagreement> ;)

Coopers are better on the twisties , FACT :approve:

The 'S' however will wee all over a Coop in a straight line (but where is the fun in that)

Welcome to NMSland Rob , I'm down Dumbarton way but often found in various waterering holes in the West End :p:D

Hi there.

Like the others are saying, roadtest a Cooper. Ignore performance figures - see if you enjoy it! Cooper S is MUCH more expensive to run.

And I always consider "worst case" - what happens if you have an accident? Can you afford to sort it/insure it then?
