Anyone know if there's any truth in the reliability of old mercs?
For instance for the price of a new focus you can pick up one of these

5 litre V8, FSH less than 60k miles, they are ten years old though :blackeye:
OK running cost will be high but little or no depreciation compared to a new motor.

Good cars. Theres a local chap in my area who has had the same Merc 500 sel since I can remember and it still turns heads.
Even at 10 years old they still feature technology which some car manufacturers boast about today.

Hehe, knew I was right!
My mate's mum has one withe the panoramic glass hardtop accessory and it's a great looking car, personally I think it's beginning to look a tiny bit dated but I wouldn't go knocking one back! ;)

Its a long term project :) We are moving house so I'll be selling the MX5, not because I want to mind :(
We are likely to need a second car in the future 6 months or so, I thought this would make a good alternative to the standard eurobox, especially if converted to LPG.
